Bongbong Marcos files candidacy for president

Pormal nang naghain ng kandidatura para sa pinakamataas na posisyon sa bansa si Ferdinand Marcos Jr., o may palayaw na Bongbong.

Ngayong Miyerkules, October 6, nag-file ng certificate of candidacy si Bongbong sa Comission on Elections (COMELEC), sa Sofitel Harbor Garden Tent sa Pasay City.

Ito ang ikalawang pagsubok ni Bongbong na tumakbo sa posisyon na mas mataas sa kanyang pagkasenador noon.

Noong 2016 elections, kumandidato si Bongbong bilang bise-presidente pero nabigo siya nang manalo si Leni Robredo.

Si Bongbong ay umupong senador mula 2010 hanggang 2016 at Ilocos Norte governor mula 1998 hanggang 2007.

Naging representative siya ng Ilocos Norte Second District mula 2007 hanggang 2010 pati noong 1992 hanggang 1995.

WHO IS HIS RUNNING MATE?

Sa panayam niya sa media, sinabi ni Bongbong Marcos na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sana ang running mate niya sa 2022 elections.

"The original plan was for us to adopt PRRD for our vice presidential candidate pero sa mga nangyari noong nakaraang Sabado ay nagbago ang lahat ng plano," ani Bongbong.

Ang tinutukoy niya ay ang pag-anunsiyo ni Pangulong Duterte noong Sabado, October 2, na siya raw ay magreretiro na sa pulitika matapos ang kanyang termino.

Tatakbo si Bongbong sa ilalim ng Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, at sa ngayon ay wala pa raw itinalagang bise-presidente ang kanyang partido.

Tila bukas naman siya sa posibilidad na maging running mate si Senator Bong Go, na ang partido ay PDP-Laban faction na pinamumunan ni Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

SON OF FORMER DICTATOR

Si Bongbong ay anak ng yumaong Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, na nanungkulan ng 21 taon mula 1965 hanggang 1986.

Tinaguriang diktador ang nakatatandang Marcos gawa ng batas militar na ipinatupad nito mula September 21, 1972 hanggang January 17, 1981.

Bagamat 1981 ang official lifting ng martial law, nanatili ang mga Presidential Decrees ni Marcos hanggang 1986.

Napatalsik ang diktadurya ni Marcos nang maganap ang makasaysayang EDSA Revolution o People Power noong February 1986.

Inilikas siya ng Estados Unidos papuntang Hawaii upang makaligtas sa poot ng mga taong dumagsa sa Malacañang.

Mula 1972 hanggang 1981, ayon sa 1982 report ng Amnesty International, 70,000 katao ang ikinulong, 34,000 ang tinorture, at 3,240 ang pinatay sa Pilipinas.
