Do you still remember singer Panky Trinidad?
Panky was a former finalist of ABS-CBN’s musical reality show, Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA), with Yeng Constantino and Ronnie Liang as her batchmates in 2006.
Yeng was the grand winner of their batch.
On December 13, 2021, Panky staged a comeback attempt as she joins It’s Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”
She performed Sugarfree’s song “Hari ng Sablay” for her first performance.
Panky then had a quick interview with hosts Vhong Navarro and Vice Ganda, where they talked about her comeback.
After joining PDA, Panky was able to join the World Championships of Performing Arts or WCOPA in 2008.
After WCOPA, Panky decided not to join contests anymore until “Tawag ng Tanghalan” came.
“Sabi ko, after PDA, hindi na talaga ako sasali, natatakot na ako. Hindi ko alam.
“Tapos ngayon na nasa Cebu pa ako at saka pa ako umoo. Sige, okay lang, game laban tayo
“Sabi ko lang, subukan ko lang one last time. Parang gusto ko lang din gawin for myself, mas okay na siyang gawin ngayon, I feel like.”
Panky says that she dedicates her comeback “para sa mga taong katulad ko na mga LGBT, mga malulusog.”
PAST SHOWBIZ CAREER
Vice Ganda also asked Panky about the “sablays” of her life, basing on her song choice “Hari ng Sablay.”
Panky admitted that one of those “sablays” was what happened to her showbiz career.
Panky then turned emotional and started tearing up after her story.
But now that she has learned her lesson from the past, she already knows what to do with the new opportunity.
She said, “I believe na dapat kapag nasa iyo na iyong isang opportunity, alagaan mo talaga. Gawin mo lahat para makuha mo iyon.
“Iyong sa akin, alam ko na panghawakan iyong sarili ko. Nawala, pero okay lang, go pa rin.”
When asked if she compares herself to her contemporaries like Yeng and Ronnie, Panky answered with a smile, “Hindi, they deserve all the success that they have.”
In the end, Panky became the champion for the day and continues to defend it until the episode today, December 14.
