Sanya Lopez is happy to learn that GMA-7 is doing a spin-off of its epic telefantasya, Encantadia.
Titled Sang’gre, the story will focus on a young woman who discovers she has super human powers. Unbeknownst to her, she is the missing daughter of Danaya.
Danaya is the character played by Sanya in Encantadia’s 2016 reboot.
During the Zoom press conference of Agimat ng Agila on January 23, 2022, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Sanya: Would you be open to reprise the same role for the reboot?
She answered, “Of course, alam naman natin na Encantadia ang nagbigay ng break sa akin dito sa GMA.
“Kaya if ever naman na i-offer sa akin ang Sang’gre, buong puso ko talagang tatanggapin ang Sang’gre kasi sobrang napamahal sa akin si Danaya.
"Isa siya sa pinakapaborito kong character.”
According to Sanya, she received a lot of messages from her fans after the show's title appeared in GMA-7's New Year Countdown special.
It surprised her as she didn't know that GMA 7 had any plans of doing a Sang-gre spin-off.
She told PEP.ph, “Sobrang na-excite ako, ang daming nag-message sa akin na, ‘Ikaw ba ito? Bakit iyong brilyante mo iyong nasa gitna?’
“So talagang ang daming naano, ‘Anong meron, anong meron?’ So, na-excite iyong mga tao sa akin.
“Sabi ko, hindi ko rin alam, na-surprise lang din ako noong New Year na nandoon pala iyong Sang’gre, may bago.
“So, even ako na-surprise, walang nagsasabi sa akin.”
Sanya further recounted the excitement of the cast of Encantadia on learning about the reboot from director Mark Reyes.
Sanya recalled, “After noon, since ang Encantadia Viber group ay buhay pa hanggang ngayon, nagsend si Direk.
“Pero alam mo naman, si Direk Mark, mapa-surprise din, mahilig mangganon so hindi namin alam.
“Pero lahat kami, hindi lang ako na Sang’gre ang excited para dito pero kaming apat,” referring to the other 2016 Sang’gres Glaiza de Castro, Gabbi Garcia, and Kylie Padilla.
The series, however, has yet to be officially offered to Sanya.

Currently, Sanya is busy taping for her upcoming drama series, First Lady, with Gabby Concepcion. It is the second season of her top-rating 2021 series, First Yaya.
"BITIN" EXPERIENCE IN AGIMAT NG AGILA
Sanya is also expected to appear again in the weekly series Agimat ng Agila for its second season.
Sanya was the leading lady of lead actor Senator Bong Revilla during the first season, but her appearance in the second season is billed as “special participation.”
She also did not mention what will happen to her character in the second season, admitting to PEP.ph that she's been feeling somewhat in the dark about the show.
Sanya said, “Honestly, oo, kasi bitin ako sa Agimat ng Agila. Parang masarap din kasi katrabaho dito lahat.
"So nakaka-miss na maging part dito since special participation lang ang ganap ko ngayon.
“But since magagaling naman ang ating director at writers, e, alam ko naman na maganda ang story nito at marami silang surprises so dapat nating abangan.”
Sanya, meanwhile, remains open to the idea of doing more for the show.
She said, “Kung kaya naman natin, why not, pero sabi ko nga, as long as kailangan ako ng Agimat ng Agila, nandito ako.”
Agimat ng Agila season two premieres on Saturday, January 29.
