Sang’gre, the spin-off of GMA-7’s epic telefantasya Encantadia, begins its production.
The show’s production and creative teams, including its director Mark Reyes, posted a photo from their Zoom creative meeting earlier today, January 25.
One of the new members of the show’s creative team is legendary screenwriter and former ABS-CBN creative manager Ricky Lee.
Ricky joined GMA-7 as a creative consultant in September 2021.
Suzette Doctolero, the creator of Encantadia, remains in the creative team. Together with Mark, they are still currently working on another GMA-7 series, Voltes V: Legacy.
Mark wrote in the caption, “And the portal to the world of #encantadia is open once again. Meet the creative team of #Sanggre @suzidoctolero @rj.nuevas @rickyleeph @gmadrama @gmanetwork”
Also part of Sang’gre creative team are Encantadia 2005 writer Anna Aleta Nadela, GMA-7 writer Jake Somera, and former ABS-CBN writer Ays de Guzman.
Creative head RJ Nuevas and program manager Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria were also present at the meeting.
More details about Sang’gre have yet to be revealed.
The show was first revealed in the omnibus plug aired during the GMA-7 New Year Countdown Special on December 31, 2021.
It was later revealed that the story will focus on a young woman who discovers that she has powers, not knowing that she is the long-lost daughter of Sang’gre Danaya.
Sanya Lopez, who played Danaya in the 2016 version of Encantadia, said that she is clueless about the project, but is open to playing the character once again for Sang’gre if offered to her.
