Director Jerry Lopez Sineneng is having a good time helming his first GMA-7 teleserye, Widows’ Web, which will premiere on February 28, 2022.
At the teleserye's virtual conference on February 17, he described what it is like working with Kapuso stars and staff: Napakasarap, napakagaan lang po. Mahirap, malaking project.
"Pero naramdaman ko na agad iyong suporta at pag-welcome sa akin na para talaga akong bahagi ng pamilyang ito.
“Wala po akong mahihiling, masayang-masaya lang.
"Totoo lang. From the cast to the crew to the production ng management, sobrang saya ko.”
He has a reason to be exuberant as he was the first choice of Helen Rose Sese, GMA assistant vice president for drama, to direct the series.
According to Helen Rose, who is also the project's senior program manager, “Newly signed kasi si Direk Jerry sa GMA ‘tapos tinatanong ako ni Ms. Redgie Magno [former VP for Drama] kung sino iyong gusto kong mag-direct nitong Widows’ Web.
“I said I am excited to work with someone from the other channel and iyong credentials ni Direk Jerry Sineneng.
"Älam naman natin kung gaano kaganda, di ba? At hindi kami nagkamali.”
Direk moved to GMA 7 in November 2021 after 26 years with ABS-CBN.
He started his TV directing career in ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya. His first teleserye was Judy Ann Santos' Esperanza (1997).
Among his remarkable series, to name a few: Imortal (2010), Walang Hanggan (2012), Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala (2013), A Love To Last (2017), Kadenang Ginto (2018), La Vida Lena (2020), and Love Thy Woman (2021).
WORKING WITH KAPUSO STARS
Direk Jerry is working for the first time with Ashley Ortega, Pauline Mendoza, and Vaness del Moral, three of the lead actresses of Widows’ Web.
At the mediacon, he was all praises for his artists.
Direk Jerry told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “Alam mo, while we’re doing the show, mahal na mahal ko silang lahat.
“In fairness I’ve worked with some of them in the past, like si Ms. Carmina [Villarroel], sila Luis [Adrian Alandy], sila [Christian Vazquez].
“Pero iyong mga first time ko nakatrabaho, sila Vaness, Ashley, Pauline, kababait, kagagaan katrabaho, professional.
“We had an agreement before we started. Meron kaming mga pinag-agree-han na you come to the set on time, you come ready, wala silang bini-break.
“Ang gaan nila katrabaho, we have a script reading before we entered the lock-in taping, doon inaral na namin iyong characters.
“Kung ano iyong pinag-agree-han, kung ano iyong requirement ng role, iyon iyong ibinibigay nila.
“Magaan katrabaho at magagaling, nakakatuwa. Ang sarap ng pakiramdam ko.”
Widows’ Web is a whodunit murder mystery where the lives of four women have been turned upside down by the the death of Alexander Sagrado III (Ryan Eigenmann).
There is his wife, Jackie (Ashley), his older sister Barbara (Carmina), and Jackie’s friend Hillary (Vaness).
Elaine (Pauline), whose fiancé Frank (Edgar Allan Guzman), is wrongly accused of the crime investigates the truth behind Xander’s death.
