Television has remained one of the go-to media to keep Filipinos updated on the progress of the 2022 Presidential Elections on May 9 and May 10, 2022.
For the whole day of May 9, TV networks halted their regular programming to give way to election coverage.
On May 10, programs from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 n.n. were preempted to give way to election updates.
Now which election coverage prevailed in the ratings game?
Based on Nielsen Philippines’ overnight data for May 9 to 10, GMA-7’s Eleksyon 2022 posted 45.6% people net reach in National Urban TV Audience Measurement.
Coming in second was GMA-7’s sister channel, Gtv, which posted 20.9% people net reach. The Gtv airing was a simulcast of the coverage that aired on GMA-7.
Placing third in the ratings was TV5’s “Bilang Pilipino 2022” election special, which received 19.5% people net reach.
A2Z followed with 11.2% while cable channel Kapamilya Channel came in fifth at 3.4%. Both networks simulcast ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2022 coverage.
The ratings data include all news programs, news bulletins, and specials that covered the elections.
