Bumuhos ang suporta at papuri ng netizens, kaibigan, celebrities, at mga kamag-anak ni Miel Pangilinan nang aminin niyang isa siyang queer.
Noong June 14, 2022, sa pamamagitan ng Instagram, inihayag ni Miel na miyembro siya ng LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) community.

Isa sa nagpahayag ng suporta kay Miel ay ang kanyang half-sister na si KC Concepcion.
Si Miel ay pangalawa sa tatlong anak ng Megastar na si Sharon Cuneta at ni Senator Kiko Pangilinan.
Si KC ay nag-iisang anak naman ni Sharon sa kanyang unang asawa na si Gabby Concepcion.
Sobrang proud daw si KC para sa nakababatang kapatid.
Ipinangako rin ni KC kay Miel na lagi siyang nakasuporta rito bilang ate.

Bahagi ng sinabi ni Sharon tungkol sa pag-come out ni Miel: “What’s next is that I will have a happier daughter who is now 'free' and will always be a good person with a good heart—and still always courageous.
"She is cute in that her crushes on boys especially in K-Pop are genuine. And if she likes girls that’ll be genuine too.
“She will certainly be treated no different by us her family and those who truly love her. I will love her just the same, if not more. Like I said, all my children are PERFECT."
