Gawad TANGLAW or Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw awarded five medals to the indie film Selda directed by Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos. Filipino filmmakers were honored during the Testimonial Night of the academe-based group held last Saturday, March 1, at the University of Perpetual Help-Las Piñas in Alabang, Zapote, Las Piñas City.
In the Film Arts, the 2007 Cinemalaya entry Endo received the Gawad Mag-aaral para sa Kapuri-puring Pelikula ng 2007. Two ties occurred in the Film Arts category: Michael de Mesa tied with Emilio Garcia (Selda) for the Best Supporting Actor category while Eugene Domingo tied with herself for the category Best Supporting Actress. The comedienne-actress won for both Foster Child and Pisay.
Selda dominated the honors list of Gawad TANGLAW by taking home the awards for Best Editing, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Supporting Actors. The indie film about two inmates who develop a platonic relationship will be shown again at IndieSine from March 5 to 11.
