Former Sampaguita Pictures star and veteran actor Hernando "Boy" Alano has departed on July 23, 2022, at 11 a.m., in a rented house in Sampaloc, Manila.
He was 81.
Condolences poured in from people who remember and knew the actor.
Even fans of his previous co-star in the box-office hit Roberta, Tessie Agana, were saddened by the passing of the actor as they were supposedly expecting a reunion of the two, after receiving news about the actress's scheduled return to the Philippines.
Born on March 20, 1941, Boy was one of the biggest stars of his time. Kickstarting his acting career at an early age, he was able to land roles in more than 200 films and television shows by the year 1950.
He won the award for Best Child Actor at the 5th Asian Film Fest, experienced becoming an assistant director for the film Cheeta-eh: Ganda Lalake? which featured comedian Rene Requiestas (died in 1993), and starred alongside the "King of Philippine Comedy" Dolphy (died in 2012) and the "King of Philippine Movies" Fernando Poe Jr. (died in 2004) in several projects.

At the height of the pandemic in August 2020, previous Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairperson Liza Diño, revealed that multi-awarded veteran actress Nora Aunor sent in a request to help her former co-star.
They had become relatively close after being cast together in multiple films like Tomboy Nora, Tell Nora I Love Her, Munting Santa, Ang Pangarap Ko'y Ikaw, Three For The Road, Orang, and more.
"Kailangan niya talagang madalaw, ma-checkup, 'tapos yung mga pangangailangan niya," Liza said.
This wasn't the first time that Boy became the subject of a social welfare operation. In a 2018 episode of ABS-CBN's public service program Mission Possible, it was revealed that the former star was living in a garage.
