Radio veteran broadcaster Percy Lapid shot dead in an ambush

Lapid's family strongly condemns the killing of the hard-hitting journalist.

Patay sa pananambang ang beteranong broadcaster na si Percy Mabasa, mas kilala sa pangalang Percy Lapid, gabi ng Lunes, October 3, 2022.

Si Percy ay may commentary show sa DWBL na Lapid Fire. Anak niya ang X-Factor Season 1 contestant na si Mark Mabasa.

Ayon sa mga ulat, tinambangan ng dalawang hindi pa nakilalang supects ang hard-hitting broadcaster sa may gate ng BF Resort Village Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.

Dagdag pa sa ulat ng Inquirer.net, binaril ang mamamahayag sa may Cecilia gate ng nasabing subdivision bandang 8:30 p.m., base na rin sa incident report ng Southern Police District (SPD).

Naglabas naman ang kanyang pamilya ng pahayag ukol sa pagpaslang kay Percy.

Ikinalungkot nila ang nangyari sa broadcaster at mariing kinondena ang pagpatay rito.

Narito ang buong pahayag ng kanilang pamilya:

“We are deeply saddened and angered by the brutal and brazen killing of fearless broadcaster, father and husband, brother and friend, Percy Lapid.

“We strongly condemn this deplorable crime; it was committed not only against Percy, his family, and his profession, but against our country, his beloved Philippines, and the truth.

“Percy is beloved by many and highly respected by peers, fans and foes alike. His bold and sharp commentaries cut through the barrage of fake news over the air waves and social media.

“We demand that his cowardly assassins be brought to justice. #justiceforkapercy
