She bested Miss Dominican Republic Andreína Martinez and Miss Venezuela Amanda Dudamel.
All Top 3 candidates were given the same question: If you win Miss Universe, how would you work to demonstrate this as an empowering and progressive organization?
It was Miss U.S.A. who won the hearts of the judges and viewers alike as she highlighted how her background in helping survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence could be translated in a bigger platform if she won the pageant.

Answer: Well, I will use it to be a transformational leader. As a very passionate designer, ive been sewing for 13 years, I used fashion as a force for good. In my industry, I'm cutting down on pollution through recycled materials when I make my clothing, I teach sewing classes to women to help them survive human trafficking and domestic violence. And I say that because it's important to invest in others, invest in our community, and use our unique talent to make a difference. We have something special and we can plant those seeds to [time's up by this point] other people in our life. We transfrorm them and we use that as a vehicle for change.
Andreína Martínez (Dominican Republic)
Answer: I understand that Miss Universe organization is looking for an ambassador, somebody who is able to communicate a message. I have been working for women's rights for as long as I can remember. It's been my actual day every single day. Im here to demonstrate that no matter where you come from, your background does not define you, your courage and determination do. And I will show that by working every single day, show my initiative and determination. Thank you.
Amanda Dudamel (Venezuela)
Answer: If I get to win Miss Universe, I will follow the legacy that many women across the universe has shown. To be part of this organization. Because Miss Universe has demonstrated that they choose women who inspire with their messages and transform with their actions and that's precisely what I'd like to do. But I'm a designer of dreams as a woman. Thank you so much.
