Siya ay 89 years old.
Sa ulat ng ABS-CBN, sinabi ng kanyang longtime partner at photographer na si Alex Van Hagen na bandang 2 a.m. ng Biyernes, February 17, 2023, binawian ng buhay si Maurice habang natutulog.
Labis namang ikinalungkot ng matalik na kaibigan at lifestyle editor na si Anton San Diego ang pagpanaw ni Maurice.
Saad niya sa kanyang Instagram post, “To Maurice, my heart breaks not knowing I won't be able to hear your voice, asking what's happening or what are you doing today?
“Thank you for the years of friendship and all the memories I will treasure of our time together. They were priceless! You are a great friend, a legend and the funniest man I know.
"God bless you and rest now...No more sadness. You are in a much better place [praying hands emojis] Love you, Mau [heart emojis] #endofanera #besties #restinpeace #loveyou”

Ayon sa tatlerasia.com, si Maurice ay nagtapos ng AB Political Science, minor in Psychology, sa Northwestern University sa Chicago, Illinois.
Natapos naman ang kanyang master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations sa London School of Economics, ayon pa rin sa tatlerasia.com.
Ang mga sikat niyang columns ay ang “Without Batting an Eyelash” (Times Journal at Philippine Daily Inquirer) at "My Lips are Sealed… Sometimes" (The Philippine Star).
Si Maurice ay lifestyle and social editor ng Philippine Tatler.
Naging co-host din siya noon ni Johnny Litton sa Oh No! It's Johnny (ABS-CBN, 1987 to 1999) kung saan nagtuturo siya ng etiketa sa mga sosyalan.
