Ayon kay John, bukod sa public apology niya na ito ay nag-text na rin siya kay Erik noong unang pumutok ang isyu.
Ito ay matapos magpasaring si Matti tungkol sa posts ni John sa social media na waring nangungunsensiya.
Sa kanyang Instagram ngayong araw, March 1, 2023, sinabi ni Matti na huli na ang “damage control” na ginawa ni John.

THE ISSUE
Si John ay awardee ng Volpi Cup, na katumbas ng best actor award, mula sa 78th Venice Film Festival noong September 2021.
Noong February 22, 2023, kinilala ng Senado ang inuwing karangalan ni John sa bansa. Pinagtibay ito sa pamamagitan ng Senate Resolution No. 490.
Noong February 23 at 24, nang i-post ni John sa IG ang pasasalamat niya sa Senado, hindi niya binanggit sa caption ang pamagat ng pelikula kung saan siya pinarangalan.
Ito ang labis na ikinagalit ng direktor na si Matti.

Habang isinusulat ang artikulong ito, updated na ang caption sa IG posts ni John, at makikitang binanggit na niya na ang On The Job: The Missing 8 at binigyan ng credit si Matti.
Noong February 27, ni-repost din ni John sa IG ang mga hinabi niyang talumpati mula sa award-giving bodies na kinilala ang pagganap niya sa pelikula.
Kabilang dito ang 78th Venice International Film Festival noong September 11, 2021; Wagi: A Celebration of Filipino Excellence sa CCP noong February 18, 2022; Gawad Urian noong November 17, 2022; at World Class Philippines 2022 noong December 14, 2022.
Sa speeches doon ni John ay hindi niya nakaligtaa na banggitin ang On The Job pati na mga kasamahan sa pelikula.

Noong February 28, ipinakita din ni John sa IG ang mga larawan niya kasama si Matti, at litrato niya kasama si Dondon Monteverde. Si Monteverde ay producer ng On The Job: The Missing 8.
Pero base sa latest post ni Matti, pakiramdam ni Matti ay bumabawi na lang si John sa belated posts nito sa IG.
JOHN ARCILLA'S EXPLANATION
Ngayong araw, March 2, nagsalita si John tungkol sa isyu na ikinagalit ng batikang direktor.
Katuwiran ni John, sa mga speech niya ay binibigyan niya ng credit ang pelikula at mga katrabaho rito.
"It was not a speech. It was a post," paglilinaw ni John.
"The film was mentioned in the senate televised. Then it was on the news that night.
"So it is already a common knowledge that the Volpi cup is On the Job: The Missing 8, Erik Matti and me, and long before even the Senate Resolution was made."
Ayon pa sa aktor, tatlong posts ang plano niyang ibahagi sa social media upang pasalamatan ang lahat ng mga taong nakatulong sa pelikula.
Pauna lang daw iyong original IG post kaya wala pa roon ang special mention ni John sa mga katrabaho.
Ani John, "Since it is already a common knowledge. The first post is to thank the authors of the resolution. The honorable senators."

Paliwanag pa ni John, base pa rin sa kanyang latest IG post, una na siyang humingi ng paumanhin kay Matti sa pamamagitan ng text message.
Sinulat daw niya sa text message kay Matti ang mga katagang "mea culpa," o pag-aming kasalanan niya ang di nila pagkakaunawaan sa social media.
Ngayon ay huhumingi raw siya uli ng pasensya sa direktor.
Paliwanag ni John (published as is): “And I apologized to you at once @erikmatti on my text personally.
"I even said ‘mea culpa’ even if the plan was to have a three day installation of posts, that could easily be mistaken as an alibi now.
"The second day will be thanking the gift givers.
"And third day is to post the RESOLUTION itself and that means we and the film are all mentioned in the Resolution and definitely everything will be on the caption.
"I did not post these reasons because I wish things to sink in first. But it seems not."
“WHY ARE WE EXCHANGING WORDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA?”
Hindi raw maintindihan ni John kung bakit humantong sa sagutan sa social media ang alitan nila ni Matti.
Kasabay nito ay nilinaw niya kung anong ibig sabihin nang i-post niya ang mga litrato nila ni Dondon, pati na ang previous speeches niya.
Paliwanag ni John (published as is): "The pictures of friendship is for you and our colleagues to realize we have a good relationship, were not even enemies and we can actually talk about things like friends, colleagues or at least a team because thats how I see us.
"Why are we exchanging words on social media?
"The repost of speeches is to remind you Direk and everyone that I never failed to recognize the Film which means the issue about the post is totally UNINTENTIONAL and a result of misunderstanding."
Sa post ni Matti sa Instagram, sinabi niya kay John na, "You are not the film. I am not the film. A film is the sum of everyone working on it not just you and me."
Sinang-ayunan ito ni John.
Mapagkumbabang saad ni John: "I apologize once again.
"And yes, I am not the Film and You are not the Film It is not even the Producer’s, the crew or the production staff per se, we do it to live literally and purposely to dream for a better life.
"We create films and we tell stories to make this world a friendlier and a better place even if its too IDEAL, we still wish it to be, where friendships and forgiveness are more valuable than anything, unless someone commited a crime or a mortal sin."
Sa huli ay nag-apologize ulit si John kung na-offend man niya si Matti sa Instagram post na naging mitsa ng kanilang alitan.
Saad niya, "I am so sorry for this. It was not my intention but since you were offended Direk Erik, again I will apologize here on social media even ifx I already Apologized personally on our thread.
"I also end it here."
