Pumukaw ng pansin ang performance ni Ms. Lapu-Lapu Clare Inso sa preliminary competition ng Miss Universe Philippines 2023.
Sa preliminary interview noong Miyerkules, May 10, 2023, nagpakilala siya bilang digital content creator, host, at performer.
Hindi niya binanggit na siya ay Top 5 finalist sa "Bida Next" talent search ng Eat Bulaga! noong 2022. Ang sinabi lang niya ay may record single siyang malapit nang ilunsad.
Ipinagmalaki rin niyang siya ay graduate ng sociology at kasalukuyang nag-aaral ng post-graduate course sa anthropology.
Sa tanong kung ano ang interesting info tungkol sa kanya, hindi nag-atubiling sumagot si Clare na siya ay may same-sex relationship.
"What a lot of people find interesting about me is that I am actually an openly queer woman.
"I am in a relationship with another woman," pag-amin ni Clare.
Patuloy niya, "And I think that makes me really interesting because I'm open about it.
"In the Philippine society, it's kind of a taboo and it's still kind of a problem to be accepted.
"The debate between tolerance and acceptance is still there."
Sabay dagdag niya, "I guess, I said too much."
ON COSMETIC ENHANCEMENT
Pero may isa pang rebelasyon ang 24-year-old aspiring beauty queen sa dulo ng Q&A.
Ang host sa Q&A ay si Voltaire Tayag, director of communications ng Miss Universe Philippines.
Tanong ni Voltaire: "How do you balance cultural and traditional values with modern-day aspirations? What advice would you give to other young Filipinas navigating this challenge?"
Sagot ni Clare: "Well, that's really interesting... Thinking of cultural and traditional...
"I'm standing in front of you here. I'm actually very open about the procedures that I've done, uhm, to look like this.
"Well, not to discredit how I was made by God because I feel like I was, I've already been made beautiful.
"But I've actually been very open about scientific procedures to enhance my physical [features]. These are all based on the biases of society.
"Uhm, being in a beauty pageant, I think it's really important to understand the cultural implications..."
Hindi na natapos ni Clare ang kanyang pahayag dahil sa time limit sa Q&A.
Sa dalawa pang tanong sa kanya ay hindi rin niya natapos ang kanyang sasabihin dahil sa time limit.
SWIMSUIT AND EVENING GOWN COMPETITION
Pagsalang naman sa swimsuit and gown competition, hindi nagpahuli si Clare sa kanyang performance.
