The OVERPASS: K-Pop Concert in Manila 2023 held last June 11, 2023, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum delivered high-voltage performances of renowned K-Pop artists—soloist Jeon Somi, EXO member Baekhyun, and Korean rapper Kim Hanbin, better known as B.I
Apart from rendering enchanting melodies and mesmerizing dance routines, the artists galvanized their fans with their banters and funny stories.

SOMI'S "MANGGA" MOMENT
Somi, known for her lively personality, captured the audience's hearts with her endearing and amusing story during the quick Q&A segment.
When asked about her experience in the Philippines, she shared a delightful trivia about her connection to the country.
Somi revealed, "The Philippines might be the first country I ever visited. Aren't you guys curious? 'What do you mean first?' My mom was pregnant with me, and she came to the Philippines.
"She was already pregnant, but so seeing the culture, seeing the Philippines with my eyes, but I definitely tasted the mango," she exclaimed, sparking laughter among the crowd.
"I had a lot last night, this morning. I'm all mango," she giggled.
Somi also asked the host, Filipina actress Denise Laurel, what the Filipino word for mango was, to which Denise replied, "Mangga."
Apparently, Somi mistook the word to mean something else.
She said, "Mangga ko kayo," to mean, "Mahal ko kayo."
The crowd erupted in laughter, confusing Somi.
She asked, "Oh, did I do something wrong?"
Realizing her mistake, she consulted her cheat sheet of Filipino words, and uttered in dismay, "Hay nako!," which elicited an "awww" from the amused crowd.
BAEKHYUN'S ACCIDENTAL PROMISE
Baekhyun, with his incredible vocal prowess, ignited the atmosphere further with his energetic stage presence.
During his segment, he shouted to the crowd enthusiastically, "Hi Manila!"
Engaging the audience, he asked them to respond with a spirited "annyeong!"
Denise, seizing the opportunity, encouraged the crowd to express their love for Baekhyun in Filipino.
The audience responded passionately with a chorus of "Mahal kita" and "Mahal ka namin."
After learning the meaning of the phrases, Baekhyun responded, "Mahal ko kayo" and added with a smile, "Did I say it right?"
Making the most out of the segment, Denise playfully tricked Baekhyun into making a promise.
She asked Baekhyun to say "Babalik ako," which got the fans giddy in anticipation.
Obligingly, Baekhyun repeated the phrase, unaware of its meaning.
With the crowd cheering, Baekhyun was asked if he understood the phrase, to which he adorably replied, "No," while shaking his head.
After learning the meaning, Baekhyun voluntarily exclaimed, "Ah! I promise," expressing his willingness to return to Manila.
To seal the promise, he made a pinky swear with the Filipino fans, even saying it in Korean, "Yaksok" (I promise).
B.I's TIKTOK SHOOT
B.I, the charismatic rapper, embraced the love from Filipino fans with open arms during his talk segment.
He declared his affection by saying, "Mahal kita," which instantly ignited a wave of euphoria throughout the venue.
Driven by the overwhelming enthusiasm of the crowd, B.I graciously accepted a special request from his adoring fans—an invitation to film a TikTok video together.
In a gesture that demonstrated his dedication to his supporters, he selected the chorus of his latest song, Dare to Love, from his acclaimed To Die For album as the captivating soundtrack for this memorable collaboration.
