“Nagsimula sa patikim-tikim…”
Anyone who grew up in the ‘90s would instantly recognize this line from the now classic OPM rock hit “Laklak” by Teeth.
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Teeth vocalist Glenn Jacinto announced that the band is reuniting for a couple of bar shows around Metro Manila this year.
Hosting the reunion gigs are the following venues:
- 19 East in Sucat, Muntinlupa (September 29 and October 18)
- 12 Monkeys in Estancia Mall, Pasig (October 4)
- Eastside in Marikina (October 6)
- Social House in Makati (October 12),
- 70’s Bistro in Anonas, Quezon City (October 25)
Joining Glenn are the rest of the band's members, namely, drummer Mike Dizon, guitarist Jerome Velasco, bassist Pedz Narvaja, and bassist-turned-guitarist Dok Sergio.

COMMERCIAL SUCCESS
Formed in 1993, Teeth went mainstream with the release of its self-titled debut album under Warner Music Philippines in 1995.
The album contained the songs "Galit Ka Ba Sa Mundo," "Chicharon," "Me," and the hits "Prinsesa" and the anthemic "Laklak."

The band's emergence coincided with the resurgence of rock music in the Philippine music scene in the early '90s.
In 1997, Teeth released its sophomore effort titled Time Machine, which contained the song "Tampo."
The band came back strong in 1999 with its third album I Was A Teenage Tree, which featured the songs "Sorry" and the fan favorite "Shooting Star," which clinched the Song of the Year at the NU 107 Rock Awards in 2000.
HEALTH SCARE AND CONTROVERSY
While the band was enjoying popularity, thanks to its debut album and "Laklak," news about Glenn's cancer erupted.
The ailment temporarily stopped the band from playing and engaging in activities to promote their album.
Glenn, fortunately, recovered, and the band went on to produce its second record in 1997.
Teeth was involved in a controversy in 1995 after "Laklak" was cited by the Senate, particularly Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, for allegedly promoting alcohol abuse to listeners.
Senator Sotto called for the song, as well as "Alapaap" by the Eraserheads and "Iskolar ng Bayan" by Yano, to be banned from the airwaves.
The issue eventually lost steam and the mentioned songs continue to get played on radio to this day.
PAST REUNIONS
The band took a hiatus following the release of its greatest hits album Dogs Can't Fly in 2003.
Glenn left the country for the States.
Bassist Pedz migrated to the U.S. while the band was at its peak.
The rest of the band members remain active in making music.
Drummer Mike Dizon is with Sandwich and Pedicab, and has ventured into food vlogging.
Guitarist Jerome is into music production. He also played guitars for The Mongols and Pupil, both bands fronted by ex-Eraserheads singer-songwriter Ely Buendia.
