Troy Montero is puzzled as to why Facebook unpublished the Facebook page dedicated to his daughter with autism.

The account Rocket's ASD Autism Page—named after Troy and Aubrey Miles's daughter, Rocket Miller—was deactivated for "going against community standards."

Troy shared the news on Friday, September 22, 2023, in a post on Instagram.

“I am truly sad today. Facebook has UNPUBLISHED our Rocket’s Autism Awareness page stating: ‘Rocket’s ASD Awareness Page goes against our Community Standards on account integrity and authentic identity,'" lamented Troy.

An unpublished Facebook account will be hidden from public view, making it unsearchable on the social media platform.

There are several factors why Facebook would deactivate an account including suspicions of publishing spam, using multiple accounts, or accounts with fake names to pad out likes, and infringement of the set terms and conditions.

"Of course, I know this could be from a report or some AI thing but now that our page is down, the option button to dispute is not working," said Troy.

TROY MAKES A PLEA

Troy is now appealing to Facebook to reactivate the account to allow him and Aubrey to continue running the page.

"I'm in tears over this," said Troy, before adding, "Please @facebook I hope you open my many reports asking why this has happened."

Pleading his case, Troy argued that the page was put up to "share progress, stories, and even exchange valuable information to other families with Autism."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) described Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain.

People with the condition often exhibit problems with social communication and interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests.

"Yes, our Rocket has ASD, autism spectrum disorder. We didn't share this right away because we are still learning about ASD. It was important for us to educate ourselves about it," Troy said in April 2022.

The couple wanted to debunk misconceptions about the condition, saying, "Yes, it's mental but not a problem, yes it can be physical but it's not an issue and definitely not crazy, and that symptoms vary for every kid."

Troy and Aubrey took time to share Rocket's condition as they opted to learn more about autism to understand it better before sharing it with the public.

"Allowing her space to solve things herself tends to lead to calming down," Troy said last month, talking about dealing with Rocket's outbursts.

"Fortunately, these tantrums have become less frequent lately, which we believe is partly due to her ongoing therapy, improved diet with fewer sugary snacks, and potentially her cell therapy showing benefits.

"Patience remains crucial in our daily lives."
