Ginanap ang Miss Universe 2023 preliminaries sa National Gymnasium sa San Salvador, El Salvador, umaga ng Huwebes, November 16, 2023 (Philippine time).

Dito ay nagpasiklaban ang 86 na kandidata mula sa iba't ibang bansa, suot ang kani-kanilang swimsuit at evening gown.

Mahihinuha sa simula pa lang ng kompetisyon na isa na si Miss Nepal sa paborito ng crowd matapos umani ng masigabong palakpakan at hiyawan ang kanyang pagpapakilala at pagrampa.
Ipinagmamalaki ni Jane na siya ay plus-size at sumali siya sa prestigious pageant bitbit ang kanyang adbokasiya tungkol sa body positivity, hormonal health, at mental health for women.
Sa X (dating Twitter), agad na nag-trending si Jane. Marami sa netizens ang natuwa sa kanyang naging performance at kumpiyansa.

Saad pa ng isa, "If there’s one Miss Universe 2023 candidate that I want to see included in the top 20, it is Miss Nepal. I just hope she is not only huge in size, but also in other qualities that the judges looked for during the preliminaries. She’s simply a bombshell!"
Maging ang ABS-CBN reporter na si Dyan Castillejo ay hindi rin naitago ang kanyang pagkabilib kay Jane.

Noong September 9, nanalo at kinoronahang Miss Universe Nepal 2023 si Jane.
"As a woman who is curvy and who does not meet certain beauty standards, I'm here to represent women who are curvy, who struggle with weight gain, who struggle with hormonal issues.
"I believe that there is not only one type of beauty standard but every single woman is beautiful just as she is," pahayag niya noon.
