MIFF: Dingdong, Piolo tie for Best Actor; Vilma wins Best Actress

Nag-tie bilang Best Actor sina Dingdong Dantes ng Firefly at Piolo Pascual ng Mallari sa inaugural Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), kung saan palabas ang lahat ng sampung pelikulang kalahok sa Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023.

Parehong present ang dalawang aktor sa awards night na ginanap sa Directors Guild of America, sa Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, Biyernes ng gabi, February 2, 2024 (Sabado ng umaga, February 3, 2024, sa Pilipinas).

Tinalo nina Dingdong at Piolo ang MMFF 2023 Best Actor na si Cedrick Juan para sa GomBurZa.

Nagkasundo naman ang mga hurado ng MIFF at MMFF kung sino ang Best Actress: si Vilma Santos para sa When I Met You In Tokyo.

Wala sa Amerika si Vilma kaya ang leading man niyang si Christopher de Leon ang tumanggap ng second best actress trophy niya para sa kanilang pelikula.

Nagkasundo rin ang MIFF at MMFF na ang Best Picture ay ang Firefly ng GMA Pictures.

Pero ang Best Director ng MIFF ay si Zig Dulay ng Firefly, hindi ang MMFF 2023 winner na si Pepe Diokno ng GomBurZa.

Wala si Direk Zig sa awards night, kaya ang tumanggap ng kanyang tropeyo ay si Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes ng GMA Pictures.

Second Best Picture din muli ang GomBurZa, na ginawaran din ng Audience Choice Award.

Pareho ring nagwagi muli sina Angeli Atienza bilang Best Screenplay para sa Firefly at Carlo Mendoza bilang Best Cinematographer para sa GomBurZa.

Pero iba ang choices ng MIFF sa Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories.

Si Alessandra de Rossi ng Firefly ang itinanghal na Best Supporting Actress, hindi ang MMFF 2023 winner na si Miles Ocampo ng Family of Two.

Si Pepe Herrera naman ang nagwaging Best Supporting Actor para sa Rewind, hindi ang MMFF 2023 choice na si JC Santos ng Mallari.

Ginawaran ng Lifetime Achievement Award ang multi-awarded actress na si Hilda Koronel.
