Korean actor Park Hyung Sik was surprised when avid Pinoy fans didn't even try to contain their kilig when they spoke with him during the interactive game segments for his fan meet in Manila.

The 32-year-old Hyung Sik is best known as the made lead star in K-dramas Strong Woman Bong Soon (2017), Our Blooming Youth (2023), and the ongoing romantic-comedy series Doctor Slump.

Dubbed as "SIKret Time Manila," the fan meet was held at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

One of the fun challenges was called "Code Ability Test" where Park Hyung Sik had to guess the Filipino word with the help of select players from the audience who'll give him clues for each word.

The chosen female fans didn't miss the chance to show their love for Park Hyung Sik.

Seated in the upper box, an enthusiastic audience member introduced herself as "I'm Hazel and I'm single" and unabashedly capped off her loaded statement by biting her lip.

With the help of an interpreter, Hyung Shik responded in between laughs, "You're such a passionate country, Philippines!"

Then he motivated Hazel saying, "Go! Fighting!"

The crowd rocked the Big Dome with loud cheers when it was flashed on the big LED screen that the Filipino word that Hyung Sik had to translate to Korean was "labi."

To this, Hazel lit up and appeared excited to tease the Korean heartthrob.

Hyung Sik instantly understood what was happening as he exclaimed with the help of an interpreter, "Nakikita ko reaction niya. I'm scared to read the word."

Hazel then tried to describe the Filipino word, saying it has something to do with "when you kiss someone."

Adding that it's "part of the body," she playfully asked Hyung Sik, "Do you want to know?"

This caused the crowd to erupt in laughter prompting Hyung Sik to say, "Huwag muna! Kalma ka lang!"

When he finally guessed the word, he thanked Hazel for joining the game.

Another ardent fan named Sam told Hyung Sik "I love you so much!" even before helping him out with the next Filipino word.

He gamely responded, "Sam, mahal kita!"

Then they proceeded to play the game where he had to guess what "masarap" means in Korean.

In her excitement to have a moment with her idol, Sam could hardly describe the word to Hyung Sik.

Then she unexpectedly exclaimed, "Ikaw masarap!"

When he was coached what Sam meant by her statement, he couldn't help but smile as he proceeded to guess what the word is.

But even though he was obviously caught off guard with how ardent some of the fans were, Hyung Sik cheerfully bantered with them throughout the fan meet.

PARK HYUNG SIK ON FILIPINO EXPRESSIONS

He further captivated the audience by learning Filipino expressions with the help of Sparkle artist Janeena Chan, who hosted the show.

Janeena was able to build rapport with Park Hyung Sik, and she used this to draw him closer to the fans by encouraging him to say Filipino words that would elicit kilig reactions.

Some of the Filipino expressions he learned were: "Naloloka ako sa iyo. Kilig ka ba? Type kita. Ang kulit mo. Chika tayo. Ang galing niyo."

Janeena would then ask him to say it to the crowd, who, in turn, was charmed by his enthusiasm.

PARK HYUNG SERENADES FANS AT THE BIG DOME

What further captivated the Pinoy fans was when Hyung Sik showcased his singing know-how.

As most of his fans know, his first foray into the entertainment industry was as an idol from the Korean boy band ZE:A.

The Korean heartthrob also recorded the theme songs for most of his K-dramas, and he proved that he's the real deal as he performed before the audience at the Big Dome.

He actually opened the fan meet with "Bud," the OST for Our Blooming Youth; and then for the finale, he sang "Because of You," the OST for Strong Woman Bong Soon.

PARK HYUNG SIK AND DOCTOR SLUMP

Another highlight of the fan meet was when Park Hyung Sik spoke about working with Park Shin Hye in Doctor Slump.

In the series, both of them played as former high-school rivals who grew up and became highly competitive doctors experiencing a slump in their profession.

When their paths crossed amid their misfortunes, they found unexpected friendship and eventually developed romantic feelings for each other.

During the fan meet, Hyung Sik explained that Doctor Slump was not his first project with Shin Hye.

He had a minor role in The Heirs, the hit Korean romantic series starring Shin Hye and Lee Min Ho.

"Di ba, naging sikat din ang The Heirs here sa Philippines?" Hyung Sik told his fans at the Big Dome.

Acting out a peace-sign hand gesture, he continued, "Puro ganito lang ginagawa ko.

"Actually, we never got to meet with Shin Hye in that drama. To see her in this drama, magkasabay kami sa maraming scenes.

HI-BYE SESSION WITH PARK HYUNG SIK

Hyung Sik, whose fans are called SIKrets, was so generous with his time that he even accommodated a hi-and-bye session with all the attendees of the "SIKret Time" fan meet in Manila.

All those who were seated far from the stage were the first to line up to meet him up close on stage, with the ones seated at the VIP section as the last to say bye to the Korean actor.

Even after a nearly two-hour show, Hyung Sik was still all smiles as he greeted each of his fans who came to see him.

Summing up his second Manila fan meet experience, he told the crowd at the Big Dome, "You're very passionate talaga.

"And that's why because of you natuwa talaga ako.

She described the brief moment her group had with South Korean superstar.

"For me, the highlight was meeting Park Hyungsik in person. He inspired me when he told his story that he wanted to be a police officer when he was young, but fate eventually led him to become a famous actor instead.

"I dream of becoming a model or flight attendant, but I know that with my
condition, it may be impossible.

"However, like Hyungsik oppa, I want to believe that God will provide what’s best for me,” said Eshell, 20.

A donation was also given to Save the Children Philippines, which was represented by George De La Rama (middle), director of Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications and Media, and Rosario Garcia (left), corporate partnerships coordinator.
