Kinausap mismo ni Miss World 2013 Megan Young si Miss Botswana Lesego Chombo para humingi ng dispensa sa unsolicited gesture ng Filipino beauty queen sa pag-aayos ng buhok ni Lesego sa finals night ng 71st Miss World.

Ang grand coronation ng Miss World 2023 ay ginanap sa Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai, India, noong March 9, 2024.

Si Megan ang nagsilbing host, kasama si Karan Johar.

Nang tawagin ni Megan si Lesego para sa question-and-answer portion, napansin ng former Miss World ang ilang hibla ng buhok sa noo ng Botswanian candidate kaya inayos niya ito.

Megan Young Issues Apology

Sabi ni Megan, "Let me fix your hair a little bit."

Ang concern ni Megan kay Miss Botswana ay pagpapamalas ng isang kagandahan ng ugali ng mga Pilipino.

Pero minasama at hindi ito nagustuhan ng maraming pageant fans, partikular na ang mga taga-Africa.

Kabilang na rito ang isang Botswanian content creator na administrator ng Facebook page na The Truth. Pinaratangan niyang "racist" si Megan.

Tinawag pa ito ng ibang fans ni Lesego na “witchcraft” o “sumpa” kaya raw hindi nagwagi ang kanilang kandidata.

Ngayong Lunes, March 11, 2024, naglabas ng pahayag si Megan sa kanyang Facebook upang humingi ng paumahin sa mga galit na fans.

Saad niya, “Last night during the final, I fixed Lesego Chombo’s (Miss Botswana) hair on stage.

"I wanted to offer a helping hand but I failed to oversee the bigger picture. This could have caused distress during that moment and I have been made aware that culturally, this is unacceptable.

“We have spoken privately last night at the hotel and I have apologized to Lesego in private.”

Humingi rin siya ng paumanhin sa fans at netizens na hindi nagustuhan ang pag-aayos ng buhok ni Miss Botswana.

Wala raw siyang intensiyong masama sa ginawa niya.

Ani Megan, “To those who witnessed the incident, I also want to apologize for any discomfort or confusion my actions may have caused. It was a thoughtless and disrespectful act, and I take full responsibility for it.

“I assure you that it was not my intention to invade personal space or make anyone feel uncomfortable. I deeply regret my actions and will strive to be more mindful and respectful in the future.”
