Carla Abellana laments animal cruelty and hopes for greater awareness about animal welfare: "It's going to make people realize na, number one, there is an Animal Welfare Act. Number two, it is illegal to be cruel towards animals and you can go to jail or pay a hefty fine for being abusive or neglectful sa isang hayop."

"And then, of course, ilang araw ko iniisip yun."

WHY CARLA ABELLANA FORCED HERSELF TO WATCH THE VIDEOS

"But kailangan, I always say I know, parang dapat may trigger warning or disclaimer.

“I know it's painful to watch, but we have to see. We have to see to know what happens, that these things happen."

Dagdag nito, "Pero nandoon ako sa right away dun sa, 'Okay, time to... do some action.'

"Pagka, 'Okay, it happened, what's next?' Hindi naman puwedeng iiyakan na lang natin.

"We have to, we have to do something. We have to use the law, yung ganun.

"It happens every day. Siguro I'd say ngayon lang nakuha yung attention ng majority because of the sensationalism, but it happens every day and everywhere.

"Whether sa pets iyan, na may breed or wala, whether sa stray iyan or sa farm animal, it happens every day.

"Hindi na siya bago. But at least, kumbaga, people are more aware now na may nangyayaring ganyan.

"It doesn't make it okay, of course. It's still very heartbreaking. I can't imagine the pain nung owners.

"But hopefully, it's going to make people realize na, number one, there is an Animal Welfare Act.

"Number two, it is illegal to be cruel towards animals and you can go to jail or pay a hefty fine for being abusive or neglectful sa isang hayop.

"So sana, it's always one step closer to more awareness and yung implementation talaga ng Animal Welfare Act."

CARLA ABELLANA: WOMEN OF INFLUENCE 2024

Sagot nito, "Influence to me actually can be good or bad, but influence to me is such an important tool or manner or way of calling people's attention, and hopefully something that we should also use responsibly if we are in the position of being capable of influencing others.

"So napaka-important tool iyan ngayon, most especially in the digital age and with social media, it's easy to influence people whether for something good or bad.

"So dapat, you know, we should cherish that and use it responsibly."

Pahayag ni Carla tungkol sa award, "It's an honor.

"Like I mentioned nga kanina sa interview, normally, being an actress, of course, sa work namin, sometimes there are times na na-recognize kami for our acting...

"Whether it's for a show or a movie, nabibigyan kami ng mga recognition, nominations, but this is different because it's for my advocacy."

"So I've never, as far as I know, parang I've never been recognized for my advocacy."

"Kasi hindi ko naman yan, you know, I'm not paid to do this, you know, it's what I believe in, it's what I'm passionate about.

"So beyond grateful yung aking nararamdaman kasi narecognize nila yung paggamit ko ng voice ko for animal welfare."
