Sa unang pagkakataon sa kasaysayan ng Star Awards for Movies ay inilabas na ng pamunuan ng PMPC (Philippine Movie Press Club) ang partial list ng mga nagwagi sa 40th Star Awards for Movies bago pa man ang gabi ng parangal.
Ngayong araw ng Biyernes, Hulyo 12, 2024, inihayag ang mga nagwagi sa karamihan ng mga kategorya sa taunang parangal; maliban sa mga nanalo sa Movie Actress of the Year, Movie Actor of the Year, Indie Movie of the Year, Indie Movie Director of the Year, Movie Director of the Year, at Movie of the Year.

Iaanunsiyo ang mga nanalo sa mga kategoryang ito sa mismong live presentation na gaganapin sa Henry Lee Irwin Theater ng Ateneo de Manila University, sa Katipunan, Quezon City, sa Linggo, Hulyo 21, 2024.
Kabilang sa inanunsiyong nanalo sa 40th Star Awards for Movies ay sina JC Santos at LA Santos, na nag-tie sa kategoryang Best Supporting Actor para sa kanilang pagganap sa Mallari at In His Mother's Eyes, respectively.

Best Supporting Actress naman si Gladys Reyes para sa kanyang performance sa comedy movie na Here Comes The Groom.

Ang cast ng Mallari ang ginawaran ng Movie Ensemble Acting of the Year. Tampok sa pelikula sina Piolo Pascual, JC Santos, Janella Salvador, Gloria Diaz, Raffy Tejada, Angeli Nicole Sanoy, Tommy Alejandrino, at Elisse Joson.
New Movie Actor of the Year si Dustin Yu para sa "Rage" episode ng Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme.
New Movie Actress of the Year si Ysabel Ortega para sa Firefly, at ang co-star niyang si Euwenn Mikaell ang Child Performer of the Year.

Sa pamumuno ng PMPC president na si Rodel Fernando, ang 40th Star Awards for Movies ay iprinodyus ng Airtime Marketing ni Tessie Celestino.
Ang awards night ay mula sa direksiyon ng actor-director na si Eric Quizon.
Ipapalabas ito sa A2Z sa Hulyo 27, Sabado, 10:30 ng gabi.
