"But now, at this point in my career, 42 years [in the industry], sanay na sanay na ako sa mga theater shows, sa mga intimate na shows.
"But it doesn’t mean that I prefer that over the big ones or ginagawa ko yon dahil wala na kong chance or tiwala sa sarili ko to do a big show."
Saad ni Martin, "I really didn’t want to do it only because parang feeling ko, I don’t need it. I’ve proven myself already.
"You’ve given me this title na 'Concert King,' happy na ako diyan.
"But you want me to do a big, big show? Medyo nai-stress ako ngayon if I have the same tools that I had the same before."
MARTIN NIEVERA ON HIS "DIVA" DAYS
Masasabing bata pa siya noon, kaya pag-amin niya, "At that time, it can really get to your head."
Balik-tanaw ni Martin: "Talagang yumabang ako. Talagang mayabang si Martin.
"At hindi dahil sa title. I never paid attention to that title. But I really acted as some diva king before.
"Even my own family would remind me, 'You better shape up kasi you won’t be popular forever.'"
"Remember, my rise to whatever fame was very, very fast.
"So, they always make sure that I stay humble.
"So those bad days, those 'bad Martin' days, probably he thought he was really king."

martin nievera ON getting over INSECURITies
"There was a time, yes. Because I thought, I was the best singer in the world. I’m the best," pag-amin niya.
"Then, all these kids came along. It took me a while, especially in ASAP, wala na.
"Maibibigay yan sa mga Jed Madela, Darren Espanto, all of these kids," mapagkumbabang sabi ni Martin.
Patuloy niya, "Then, I went ask someone, 'Bakit hindi ako kasali riyan? What happened?'
"But you know what, if you really go with the stages that you go through, there’s only one thing in showbiz that is constant and true.
"And that's there’s someone who will always replace you. Someone will always be better than you. Always."
"Buti na lang, early in my career, early in my 42 years [in the industry].
"Because ako, nagiging fan ako ng iba. When I see Regine [Velasquez] sing, my jaw drops.
"But Regine is having challenges din. All of us are having challenges, but you still want us in the game. That’s the best part."
"That’s blessing talaga.
"The fact that I’m still here for forty-two years, and you’re still there, asking me questions, you’re still interested, that’s a miracle."
MARTIN NIEVERA'S the king 4ever CONCERT
"And there’s only one king [God], and that’s why I was against the title.
"Everyone loves it, especially Paolo—and that’s the son of Gary Valenciano.
"For them, they feel I’m the king that has started it all. I opened the Ultra [now known as Philippine Sports Arena]. I did shows in big venues when nobody was even daring to do it.
"Most of my shows were sold out. It always looks good, always big, big, big, so I got the title of Concert King."
“No, I don’t believe that I’m king. Once I believed, every day will be a struggle for me," diin ni Martin.
"To this day, I believe that what I do is for the audience. You’re my king.
"That’s why I have to perform with the same respect. You’ll never see me tease a Filipino or belittle them.
"I have to respect the audience. I have to perform for you as my king."

"Help me celebrate 42 years of my career. I will bring you back to nostalgia.
"I will bring you the '80s vibes with every song I’ve sung for the last 42 years.
"Sana we have enough time for 42 years of music."
Dagdag ni Martin, "Even my son is flying in, Robin from Chicago with my grandson, Ram, just to be part of this great, great show."
