“A painful moment in a sacred place,” bungad ng business executive sa kanyang post.

“On July 24, 2025, during our visit to the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, a deeply upsetting incident happened to my wife and our 16-year-old daughter.”

Lahad ng negosyante: “[T]he female guard asked them, ‘What nationality are you?’

“When they replied, ‘We’re Filipinos,’ she said: ‘Open your bags. I don’t trust Filipinos.’”

Pag-amin niya: “As a father, I was heartbroken.

“As a Filipino, I was deeply hurt.

“As a traveler, I was shocked that such words were uttered at the gates of a world-renowned place of faith and culture.”

Pagpapatuloy niya, “I understand and respect the role of security. But singling someone out based on nationality is not protection, it’s prejudice.”

SAGRADA FAMILY SHOULD NOT BE A SYMBOL OF RACISIM

Lahad niya: “I am trying to send a formal letter to UNESCO and Spanish cultural authorities, not out of anger, but in the hope that this will never happen again. Not to any Filipino, not to anyone.

“Unfortunately, my email bounced back.”

“This experience shouldn’t go unnoticed.

“The Sagrada Família should be a symbol of unity, not division. Of reverence, not racism.”

Dugtong niya, “May this serve as a reminder: Respect should be as universal as the heritage we preserve.”

“I’m sharing this not because the authorities have responded, but because they haven’t.

“In fact, my initial attempt to reach them bounced back. Still, I believe stories like this deserve to be told, not to condemn, but to ensure they are never repeated.”
