Content creator Jayson Boss ToyoLuzadas is set to auction a new piece of Philippine pop culture history this September.

In the August 18 episode of his online show Pinoy Pawnstars, comedian-host Erik Nicolas brought a pair of boxing gloves—signed by PNP Chief General Nicolas Torre III—to Boss Toyo’s shop in Quezon City.

Erik said the gloves were from the ill-fated charity match with Davao’s acting mayor, Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, which fell through when Duterte failed to show up for the July 27 bout.

Erik, who had been tapped to host the event, had the gloves signed by Gen. Torre.

"Ako naman, e, natawagan lang. Siyempre, trabaho.

After showing a video of Gen. Torre signing the gloves, Erik initially priced the signed pair at PHP500,000.

He said he planned to sell them to raise funds for the animal shelters he supports.

In the vlog, he told Boss Toyo, "May purpose kasi.

Boss Toyo, however, didn’t buy the gloves on the spot.

Manny," referring to Manny Pacquiao.

Boss Toyo countered with an offer of PHP27,000, citing the July 27 date as the basis for his pricing and noting that the value wouldn’t reach PHP500,000 since Gen. Torre isn’t a professional boxer.

He told Erik: "Sa price nito, kung eto idadaan natin sa masusing sports, when it comes to sports expert.

"So ito, papasok sa signature ni Chief PNP and the event. So with that kind of event and with that kind of signature, 25,000... 27,000."

To back his counteroffer, Boss Toyo called fellow content creator Kyle Gianan, known as “Kyle the Filipino Picker," who independently valued the gloves at PHP30,000, a figure that closely matched Boss Toyo’s.

Parang ganun."

Erik and Boss Toyo failed to reach a middle ground, with Erik’s final asking price at PHP140,000.

Boss Toyo instead offered to put the signed boxing gloves up for auction at his Quezon City shop starting this September.
