Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez may have been a winner in beauty and modeling competitions, but it seems that singing is not really her calling. Melanie became the first casualty in the first elimination of Celebrity Duets, held earlier tonight, September 6.
With Melanie's departure, only seven contenders remain: wellness and beauty expert Cory Quirino, fashion designer JC Buendia, MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, comedian-politician and Melanie's brother Joey Marquez, chef JL Cang, and football player Phil Younghusband.
Each week, the contenders perform songs with professional singers. The following week, the contender who gets the lowest number of text votes will be eliminated.
Celebrity Duets is hosted by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, although Ogie will solely host the celebrity singing contest most of September since Regine is currently on a concert tour in North America with Lani Misalucha.
This season's set of judges are Danny Tan, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, and Freddie Garcia.
