Pageant season has kicked off early in 2026 as the Miss World Philippines Organization, led by Arnold Vegafria, officially unveiled its newest roster of beauty queen hopefuls.

The candidates were presented during a press event held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Okada Manila in Parañaque City.

ARNOLD VEGAFRIA: NEW FACES FOR MISS WORLD PHILIPPINES 2026

Miss World Philippines 2026 marks the 13th edition of the national pageant and serves as its official comeback nearly two years after Krishnah Gravidez was crowned in July 2024.

The organization did not stage a competition in 2025 as it realigned its schedule to synchronize with the calendar of the global Miss World pageant.

One notable shift this year is that nearly all 24 contestants are fresh faces, with none having previously represented the Philippines on an international stage.

"We’re trying our best to get new faces,” Arnold shared in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

He continued, "Actually, it’s intentional—and we’re successful in achieving that for this batch. I want to develop new faces, especially young women coming from different provinces, right?"

"I want to give them a chance to be part of the national stage.”

Originally, this year’s edition was expected to feature 30 candidates.

Arnold revealed that he opened the pageant to provincial franchisees and even to Filipino communities abroad, allowing them to send their delegates to compete at Miss World Philippines.

Arnold shared, "To be honest, the Filipino community abroad are the one talagang calling us and they want to support the organization.

"And look at that, ang dami ring [supporters]. And dadagdag pa iyan for next year.

"Kasi nga, we're still trying to give chance among the other, you know, qualified Filipina who are from the other countries. Sayang ng, e. Sayang di nakarating diyan yung iba."

While several franchise holders were unable to field a representative for this edition, Arnold said they will still be given the opportunity to participate in the next cycle.

He told PEP: "That's supposed to be 30. And six or eight candidates... franchise-holders failed to represent... to send their candidates.

"Especially in the... marami doon, half of which is international and some of them are from the other provinces. But the problem was nakulangan sila sa preparation.

"That's why we give them... I don't want them to join and then, lack of preparation. Better na give them a chance for next year."

ARNOLD VEGAFRIA: MISS WORLD PH QUALITIES

In recent editions, talent is one of the key qualities Arnold has prioritized when selecting the next Miss World Philippines titleholder.

But is he changing his strategy this year? Not quite. Arnold shared that he’s looking for the complete package.

He elaborated: "Definitely dapat if you are Miss World, you have to be, you should be talented also. Kailangan part of it iyan, e, kasi part iyan ng requirements.

"So, I think all the girls naman are all talented. I saw their talents and qualified naman.

"Hindi naman kailangan 100% magaling ka, but you have at least a talent that you can, you know, present to the public."

As for the candidates—whether they take home the crown or not—Arnold emphasized that he hopes they build lasting sisterhoods and continue their charity initiatives even after the Miss World Philippines pageant concludes.

"The most important is the camaraderie between the candidates, the sisterhood," he said.

"So experience is number on top of the list but the most important there is the sisterhood.

"The way I look at it, our organization is not only after the show, tapos na. So I want them to continue the relationship.

"And continue to have a sisterhood and continue their charity works. That's why we're supporting every candidate.

"If they need support coming from the national organization, they're open. We're open always to the other provinces, or candidate from the provinces who's asking for support from us when it comes to charity."

ARNOLD VEGAFRIA: FEELING THE PRESSURE

Following Krishnah’s near victory at the Miss World pageant, Arnold admits he now feels greater pressure to find the right candidate who can finally bring home the Miss World crown.

He said, "Every year, I'm so pressured to [get the Miss World crown]. This is one of my biggest [goals]. Talagang my target is to get naman the blue crown this time.

"So, nakuha ko na yata lahat ng crown. Nanalo na tayo sa lahat ng kinuha kong franchise. Philippines was always on top or winner, and, or kung hindi, first runner-up.

"And this time talagang, the last time I have Miss World when we were together ni Cory [Quirino] in 2013 when Megan Young won Miss World Philippines. And siguro matagal na.

"It's about time that we have to have a new Miss World naman coming from the Philippines."

Arnold added, "It's a pressure actually. I'm putting a pressure on myself and I'm pressuring also my, my team to let's deliver naman what the Filipino wants also."
