Awra Briguela took to social media to publicly call out a netizen over what she described as an "inappropriate and deeply disrespectful" remark.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Awra shared on her Facebook account, McNeal Briguela, a screenshot of an ABS-CBN News post featuring photos from her recent beach trip.
In Awra's caption, she identified the commenter by name, noting that he is a university professor.
According to Awra, the professor's public post is "a degrading and transphobic remark that no educator should ever say to anyone, especially knowing that I am also a student."
She wrote: "As a professor, you are expected to uphold professionalism, respect, and basic human decency.
"Educators should serve as role models and create safe spaces for students, not contribute to online bullying, humiliation, and discrimination.
"What he did was completely unacceptable and disappointing coming from someone in a position of authority."
The actress also revealed that other netizens, including students, had reached out to her with similar concerns about the professor’s behavior.
"What makes this even more concerning is that many people, including students, have messaged me sharing their own negative experiences and concerns regarding his behavior.
"This shows that this may not be an isolated incident."
Awra’s resolve is to gather more statements from individuals so she can formally report him to the university.
Awra ended her post by emphasizing the importance of accountability, especially among those in positions of influence.
"Accountability is important, especially for people entrusted to educate and influence students. Respect should never depend on gender identity, appearance, or personal opinions.
"Everyone deserves dignity, and no professor should use their platform to publicly shame or degrade another person."
Awra further urged others who may have had similar experiences—"inappropriate behavior, discrimination, bullying, humiliation"—to come forward and message her privately, stressing that the issue goes beyond personal grievance.
"If you are willing to speak up and share your experience, know that your voice matters.
"No professor or person in authority should make students or anyone feel disrespected, unsafe, humiliated, or discriminated against.
"This is not about hate or revenge — this is about accountability, professionalism, and making sure that students are treated with dignity and respect."

At press time, neither the netizen nor the university has issued a statement.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) attempted to reach the netizen for comment, but his Instagram and Facebook accounts are set to private, with messaging unavailable.
PEP.ph is open to publishing statements from all parties involved.
