Cup of Joe did not just make history as the first Filipino act to perform at the Philippine Sports Stadium, they also fulfilled their "fantasies" as artists in Sandali The Cup of Joe fest.
The five-member OPM band filled the venue with roughly 20,000 to 25,000 fans who were undeterred by the heavy rainpour that delayed the start of the concert on Saturday night, May 23, 2026.

Just before 7 P.M., Gian Bernardino, Rapha Ridao, Gabrielle Fernandez, CJ Fernandez, and Xen Gareza just finished the soundcheck when a sudden storm hit the venue, prompting VIP fans occupying the open field to seek shelter.
Everyone patiently waited until the storm passed and the paddles of water were cleared from the stadium tracks.
What the audience didn't know then was that concert director Paolo Valenciano and his team also made sure that all the tech equipment, sound system, and lights are properly working after getting soaked in the rain.
The main show finally started at exactly 9:50 P.M.

Wearing nautical-inspired outfits, Cup of Joe made a grand entrance as they entered the stadium tracks on motorbikes and kicked off the concert with their opening set including "Sandali," "Pamahiin," and "Patutunguhan."
Overhelmed by the huge turnout of fans, Gian exclaimed in greeting, "Wow! Nandito na tayo sa Philippine Sports Stadium! This is a manifestation of everything we've been dreaming of."
To which Rapha said, "Mula sa mga batang musikero from Baguio na nangarap na maibahagi ang songs nila sa buong mundo, isang malaking achievement ang maging kauna-unahang Pilipino act na makapag-perform sa ganitong kalaking venue."

Cup of Joe started out as a high-school band performing in campus events in 2018, up until they their first original song "Nag-iisang Muli" got viral and caught the attention of Viva Records.
The group signed with the record label in 2019, and has since released their debut album Silakbo as well as extended plays Patutunguhan and Sandali.
Then they sang more crowd favorites such as "Misteryoso," "Mananatili," and Estranghero, with fans singing and dancing along with them.

cup of joe vocalist GIAN bernardino on naysayers
But it was very much like Gian not to miss an opportunity to speak out through his music.
In the next segment, Gian pointed out that Cup of Joe is not just determined to pursue music for the sake of passion, but that the group is also all about being true to themselves and their principles.
Not shying away from naysayers who don't share his views, he firmly stated:
"You know what? We want this concert to be a reminder why we started making music in the first place, and what our artistry is all about.
"We want to sing this next song with a legend, an OPM legend, that's so big inspiration for us.
"And we want you to scream this song as loud as you can, because this song reminds us that it's okay na magalit, okay lang sumigaw, pag may nakikita kang mali.
"And whether you like it or not, we will always sing and stand up for the truth."
cup of joe fest: the STAR-STUDDED GUESTS
Then Gian introduced Bamboo, with whom he and Rapha sang Bamboo's anthemic rock song "Hallelujah."
This got the crowd singing, jumping, and cheering for more, which Bamboo accomodated as he started singing "Kisapmata," a classic from his previous band Rivermaya.
It was definitely a highlight to see Bamboo fire up the crowd with his commanding presence and energetic performance.

By this time, it became clear why Gian kept saying that the concert was a "celebration" of OPM music given the concert's star-studded guests.
Aside from Bamboo, another dream collab for the band was when they shared the stage with Kamikazee frontman Jay Contreras.

They performed "Narda," a popular Kamikazee song that was released in the 2006 album Maharot.
Gian took this moment to splash water onto the crowd using his giant water hose, which was one of the unique concert experience for Sandali The Cup of Joe Fest.

(Jay Contreras was also the one who did the pre-show for the concert, entertaining the crowd with his engaging spiels like "Sikat kami dati. Ngayon sakto lang." He also sang his band's hit songs "Unang Tikim, "Huling Sayaw," and "Doo Bi Doo.")
Making the segment with OPM icons more special was Cup of Joe's performance with no less than Eraserheads' Ely Buendia.
Filling the stadium with his distinct vocals, Ely mesmerized the audience with his effortless performance of "Alapaap."
He exuded confidence even as he simply stood in place and strummed his guitar with minumum movements.

cup of joe SOLO ACTS AND NOSTALGIC VIBES
Making the most out of their concert venue, Cup of Joe members also did solo acts for the first time to fulfill their dream to perform their own chosen numbers.
First on stage was Gab who channeled Justin Bieber with his rendition of "One Time."
Next was Rapha who played the guitar while singing Jonas Brothers' "Burnin' Up."
CJ surprised the crowd with his duet of "Pahinga" with rapper Al James, while Xen performed Coldplay's "Yellow," which was in sync with the fans' bracelet lights that turned yellow.
Gian, for his part, thrilled the crowd when he sang Michael Buble's "Feeling Good" with close friends Maki and Will Ashley.
The trio even treated the fans with sexy dance moves that was somewhat reminiscent of SB19's steps for "I Want You."
They probably made their friend SB19 Justin proud as he who was among the VIP guests in the audience.
After Cup of Joe's solo acts, they also brought their fans to a trip down memory lane as they performed songs for their sub-unit bands.
Rapha and Gab performed "Voodoo Doll" from their previous band Pink Soda.
Introducing the song, Rapha quipped that it was the song they performed when they joined Battle of The Bands in high school.
Then he pointed out that they might have lost the competition back then, but it led them to meeting bandmates in Cup of Joe, making previous struggles worth the heartache.
Gian, Xen, and CJ also brought out their alter-egos via Pink Penoy Club where they got to play Itchy Worm's hit song "Beer."

MORE HIGHLIGHTS
Joehwas, as the Cup of Joe's fans were called, definitely showed their love for the band as they remained in high spirits until the end of the concert that lasted until 1 A.M.
Cup of Joe sustained the energy with an extensive repertoire of original songs that can easily get the crowd singing and dancing the night away.
Gian and Rapha even shared the stage with a fan who sang parts of the song "Tingin," which was originally performed by Janine Berdin.
"Eto guys, sobrang magical din ang song na 'to kasi nung naggi-gig kami all around the Philippines, meron time na talaga magpa-pause kami saglit kasi iyon yung arreglo namin.
"Yung crowd, biglang nag-acappella sila ng buong chorus.
"And it really felt very emotional para sa amin kasi hindi namin inakala na ganun katao yung makakakanta ng kanta namin.
"And ayun, this is for all of you kasi kahit saan man kami dalhin ng kantang 'to, sa inyo lang lagi ang tingin namin."
The lucky fan, who has a good singing voice, was personally picked by Gian amongst the VIP fans who were present during the earlier soundcheck.

Cup of Joe also made sure that they get to interact with the huge crowd by making the most out of the T-shaped stage.
There were also a segment when they performed while riding a duck float while singing "Wag Na Lang" with water guns on hand.
This thrilled the crowd especially the ones who were either standing or seated at the back of the stadium.
It was also refreshing to see Joehwas' sustained energy and proper concert attitude as they have been very orderly even during the long queues when they first entered the venue.
They patiently waited despite the delay in the show, and exited the venue, again, in orderly manner, perhaps reflecting the discipline, optimism, and down-to-earth attitude of their idols.
Giving fans everything they've got, Cup of Joe delivered an unforgettable concert experience, playing the chart-topping "Multo" as well as a mix of beloved tracks from Silakbo and Sandali EP for their last set and encore.

They capped off the concert with "Sinderela," then jumped on a pool onstage, splashing each other with water while looking up sky during a spectacular five-minute firework display.
It was a fitting finale for the boys from Baguio Gian, Rapha, Gab, Xen, and CJ, who radiated so much gratitude for having reached yet another milestone, proving that dreams do come true.
