Makati City.

Nakasaad dito: “We say goodbye to a man who helped write our history, not in textbooks, but in the streets.

"Aurelio 'Reli' German, co-founder of the August Twenty-One Movement and one of the architects behind the strategy that carried the 1986 Revolution to victory, has passed.

“He did not just witness the People Power Revolution. He helped push it.

"And when it came time to give our own movement a name, Butz thought of August Twenty-One Movement, and it was Reli who coined the very acronym we carry today— ATOM. Simple, but memorable.

“For decades after, Reli remained what he always was, a tireless voice of freedom. Hindi siya natakot. Hindi siya tumigil.

"Through the time of the EJK's, changing threats, and changing excuses for silence, the return of the Marcoses to Malacañang, he stayed exactly where he started: on the side of the people.

"He did not do this for recognition. He did it because he believed, to his last day, that the fight for democracy is never finished — only passed on.

“With his passing, and following the earlier loss of Butz Aquino and Nick Santiago, ATOM has lost its founding pillars. Ngayon, naulila na kaming lubos.

“But an organization built on principle does not end when its founders do. It continues, guided by the vision they left behind, carried by everyone who ever believed what they believed.

"Reli, Butz, and Nick did not build ATOM to depend on them. They built it to outlive themselves. Reli lived long enough to allow it to be revitalized again, for the new blood.

NOOD KA MUNA!

“We have lost a father, a mentor, a friend.

"Reli German lived a full life, a meaningful life, an inspiring life. He co-built a movement. He fought and saw a dictator fall. He never stopped speaking when silence would have been easier.

“Patay na ang hari. Mabuhay ang hari! Paalam, Reli. Tuloy ang laban.”
