Magandang balita para sa mga drivers ng public utility vehicles (PUVs) kapag maipatutupad ang pinag-uusapang increase sa fuel discount.
Tululy-tuloy pa rin ang fuel subsidy program ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), na sinimulan noong April 2026, pero ikinukunsiderang palalawigin ito.
Layon nitong pagaanin ang pasanin ng drivers kaugnay ng mataas na presyo ng gasolina bunsod ng Middle East oil conflict.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang eligible PUV at UV Express drivers ay binibigyan ng PHP10 discount kada litro ng gasolina, at may limit na hanggang 150 liters kada linggo. Katumbas nito ang maximum subsidy na PHP1,500 per week.
Kung hindi naman ito nagamit ng drivers, forfeited ang discount.
Sa inilabas na pahayag ng LTFRB via Facebook nitong July 25, sinabi ng ahensiya na balak nilang ma-improve ang programa.
Sa pangunguna ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretaray Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez, nakikipag-usap siya ngayon sa “concerned agencies and other stakeholders in weighing the best support system that could be given to the public transport sector amid the series of oil price hikes brought by the situation in the Middle East.”
Nire-review rin daw ang usapin sa pagtataas ng pamasahe, pero sinabi naman ni LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II na mas ikinukunsiderang alternatibo ang “sustaining, expanding and increasing the fuel discount.”
Sabi ng LTFRB chairman: “We are factoring everything in the conduct of review and recomputation and this includes the fact that it is difficult to do so because the situation in the Middle East remains unpredictable and unstable.”
Last option daw ng department ang mungkahing taasan ang pamasahe.
Sabi niya: “We are looking into this proposal as the last option because the discussions on the matter are ongoing, and these discussions include public consultations with stakeholders nationwide.”
Pero ang increase and expansion sa fuel discount ay mangangailangan daw ng mas malaking pondo.
“Increasing and expanding the fuel discount is the most logical and practical measure in the middle of the uncertainty on the situation in the Middle East. This will be factored in the ongoing discussions,” paniniyak ni Vigor.
Una nang sinabi ng LTFRB chair ang pagpapabilis ng usapin ukol sa fare hike dahil sa utos na rin ni Secretary Banoy.

fuel subsidy program IN NUMBERS
Sa pinakahuling ulat, naitalang nasa 90,763 unique public utility jeepney and UV Express units ang nakapag-avail sa fuel discount program, mula sa 1,671 beneficiaries nang simulan ito noong mid-April, ulat ng Philippine Information Agency.
Samantala, ang listahan ng PUVs na nasa system ay umabot na sa 143,000.
Patuloy ang expansion ng programa sa buong bansa, at sinusuportahan ito ng 2,745 participating gasoline stations, na kinikilala ang PHP10 discount per liter para sa PUV drivers.
As of July 26, umabot na sa PHP373,805,705 million ang total financial assistance sa public transport drivers, ayon sa Department of Energy (DOE).
“The good news is tuluy-tuloy pa rin ho ang distribution nung subsidy,” sabi ni DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau Director Rino Abad.
“Depende na lang ho sa available fund na natitira with LTFRB, tutuluy-tuloy pa ho itong subsidy distribution.”
Naglabas ng guidelines ang LTFRB sa mga PUV drivers na nagpalista sa programa.
Kinailangan nilang personal na magtungo sa LTFRB office para sa fuel subsidy program.
Ang LTFRB office ay nasa 4th Floor, VCP Building, 68 Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, at bukas ng 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., mula Lunes hanggang Huwebes.
Narito rin ang mga required documents:
- Secretary’s Certificate o Board Resolution
- Photocopy ng valid ID ng authorized representative na may tatlong (3) pirma
- Deed of Undertaking (para sa Driver Cheque)
Ang fuel-discount program ay proyekto ng DOE, DOTr, LTFRB, at Landbank.
