Kris Aquino reminisced about the final days of her mother, former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, in an Instagram post on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
This year marks the 17th death anniversary of the democracy icon who passed away on August 1, 2009, after losing her battle with colorectal cancer.
"We accepted her death intellectually because we witnessed how much she suffered," sighed Kris.
She added, "But can someone you cherished ever be forgotten? Until now, when I watch families in conflict, I say 'Sorry mom, you never deserved any of that."
KRIS UNDERGOES NEW TREATMENT
Meanwhile, Kris's health battle continues, as she shares her recent struggles and the physical and emotional pain she endured in her treatments against multiple autoimmune diseases.
"I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end. I have never given details about the treatments that failed, the nights I cried until sunrise because the bones from three inches above my knee all the way to my ankle and up to the soles of my [feet] hurt with such cruelty that I broke my rule and sobbed in Bimb’s arms," wrote Kris.
She continued, "No child, especially one raised by a single parent, should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs."
Kris recounted breaking down from the pain and stress in front of her firstborn son, Josh, who offered his left arm for the former TV host to rest her head.
"Kuya knew being cradled in his left arm and lying down where I can almost hear his heartbeat is a source of comfort that gives me hope and reminds me just for whom I continue to fight," said Kris.
Kris shared that she "tried another form of treatment which has worked for some international celebrities as well as a few friends."
Her second son, Bimby, went home early to look after her, while Josh went to the Manila Memorial Park to visit Cory's grave.

KRIS ASKS HER MOM FOR GUIDANCE
Kris is scheduled to undergo another infusion this coming Wednesday, prompting her to offer a prayer to her late mother.
"Mom, please continue looking after your baby? Because I have 6’3 and 6’2 giant babies who pray every day and believe that God does answer prayers," said Kris.

Kris is battling multiple autoimmune diseases, along with several complications related to the conditions.
She moved to the United States in 2022 to undergo medical treatment before returning to the Philippines in September 2024.
At the time, she shared on Instagram that she needed to begin her second immunosuppressant infusion, writing: "The reason I decided to go home is because I need to start my second immunosuppressant infusion in [two to three] weeks (it's a gentler term for chemotherapy).
"Emotionally I need the encouragement and unwavering faith my sisters [and] cousins, closest friends, and trusted team of doctors can provide."
