Trigger Warning: Violence
Dalawang estudyante ang patay at siyam ang sugatan dahil sa insidenteng pamamaril sa Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
Naganap ang insidente sa Junior High School campus ng unibersidad nitong Martes ng umaga, August 18, 2026.
Sinasabing ni-livestream ng shooter ang insidente ng pagpasok niya sa isang classroom kunsaan siya umano namaril.
Noong una ay tila hindi pa kaagad napansin ang pagdating ng shooter, pero maya-maya pa ay nagtakbuhan ang mga estudyante palabas ng dalawang pintuan palayo sa shooter.
Makikitang mahabang baril ang dala ng shooter, tinutok, at pinaputok sa mga estudyante.
Base pa rin sa sinasabing livestream, patuloy sa paglalakad ang shooter at lumabas ng pintuan na tagos sa ibang hallway papuntang ibang classroom. At doon ay muling nagpaputok ang shooter.
Wala pang opisyal na impormasyon tungkol sa shooter at kung ano ang naging mitsa ng trahedya.

ATENEO DE ZAMBOANGA OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Pero naglabas na ng opisyal na pahayag ang pamunuan ng Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
Narito ang kabuuang pahayag:
"The Ateneo de Zamboanga University is saddened by the incident that happened today on our JHS campus.
"As of now, we confirm that there are two (2) fatalities. As for other information, we are coordinating with authorities for the full report with full details to be provided as soon as possible.
"The safety of our students is our top priority. We have already coordinated with parents and guardians to pick up their children and the university has ensured the safety of those remaining on campus.
"We have set up official communication channels and will relay these information to the public as soon as possible.
"In the meantime, we ask everyone to respect the privacy of all affected individuals.
"We pray for the quick resolution of the situation and for the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding."
