Trigger Warning: Mention of domestic violence
Actress Gee Canlas has spoken publicly about her troubled marriage to actor Archie Alemania, alleging that he physically hurt her on several occasions during their relationship.
Gee made the allegations in an interview with entertainment reporter and talent manager Ogie Diaz, which was uploaded to YouTube on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
She explained that she decided to speak publicly after watching Archie’s recent interview with Ogie about their separation.
According to Gee, she felt that some of Archie’s statements were inaccurate or lacked context.
GEE CANLAS RECALLS ALLEGED PHYSICAL ASSAULTS
Among the incidents Gee recalled was an argument during which she alleged that Archie struck her with a tumbler.
According to Gee, Archie wanted her to agree with him about something, and she alleged that he became physically violent when she refused.
“He got a tumbler, and he went to hit me on the side of my head behind the ear. Tumunog yung skull ko,” Gee vividly recalled.
Gee also alleged that she suffered two fractured ribs during another argument.
She said the incident happened at their former home and eventually resulted in her and Archie staying at her parents’ house.
“The reason we ended up staying at my parents' house is because he broke my ribs — two fractured ribs."
Gee recalled another heated dispute in which she said she tried to stop Archie from leaving.
“I wrapped my whole body around him to stop him from leaving. He pushed me, then pinuruhan niya ako, punch na parang boxing. Nawala yung hininga ko,” she said.
Gee further alleged that Archie blamed her instead of apologizing after the incident.
She also recalled that her mother attempted to mediate between them.
“And in spite of that, my mom mediated pa for us."
Gee said her father was not aware of the alleged physical incidents because she was trying to protect Archie.
She also said her therapist advised her to leave their home because of the negativity and trauma she was experiencing. This eventually led to her and Archie staying with her parents.

GEE CANLAS: “HE ENDED UP STRANGLING ME”
Gee went on to allege that Archie strangled her twice during their marriage.
Despite the difficulties in their relationship, she described their marriage as having both good and bad periods.
“When it was good, it was good. When it was bad, it was bad," she said.
Gee also addressed Archie’s earlier characterization of her as someone who was constantly nagging him.
In his interview with Ogie uploaded on August 23, Archie said: "Ako kasi, I always walk out kapag confrontation, magulo. Gusto kong laging tahimik, kaya tumatahimik na ako. Magsalita ka diyan, tatahimik ako.
"Ayoko kasing makapagsalita ng masama. Ayokong magkaroon ng conflict.
"Kasi, imagine, yung pipilitin ka na mag-react. Reaction mo yung panghuhugutan niya, yung alam mo, yung tatahimik ka, pero pipilitin ka para makakuha ng reaction.
"Tapos kapag na-provoke ka, yung reaction mo yung masama, hindi yung provocation niya, hindi na yung ginawa niya.
"Kapag pumutok ka, kahit kasalanan niya, kasalanan mo pa rin.
"Saan ka lulugar? Wala kang lulugaran. Ikaw lagi ang may kasalanan. Kahit siya ang may kasalanan, ako pa rin ang may kasalanan.
"That’s my point of view, ha. Kasi, yung naranasan ko at nakita ko."
According to Gee, many of their disagreements stemmed from communication problems. She said Archie would sometimes walk away from arguments rather than address their marital issues.
Gee also claimed that Archie would give her the silent treatment for extended periods following their arguments.
“The whole time na di kami nag-uusap, dadaan-daanan ako niyan, lasing, uuwi 5 A.M.,” she said.
For Gee, marriage requires both partners to give and compromise.
She also responded to Archie’s earlier remarks about husbands loving their wives and wives submitting to their husbands.
Archie said in his interview with Ogie: "Pareho kaming Christian ni Gee. Lahat ng pinanghahawakan ko tungkol sa pagiging magkarelasyon kapag pareho kayong Kristiyano, yung ikaw ang hari ng tahanan at siya yung reyna.
"Wife, submit to your husband. Husband, love your wife.
"E, ang nangyayari, pareho kaming hari sa isang kaharian, so hindi puwede yon. Ayun yung laging nangyayari for the past how many years.
"So, saan pa ako lulugar? Pinagbibigyan ko lahat. Lahat-lahat binigay ko.
"Ayun yung laging pinagtatalunan naming dalawa, and even yung mga magulang niyang pastor.
"Ayun din ang sinasabi sa anak nila, pero walang nagbago, e."
Gee emphasized that, in her view, submission should not mean blindly following a spouse, particularly when she believes a decision could be harmful to the family.
“But there’s also such a thing as blind submission. Hindi ka puwedeng mag-submit kung feeling mo hindi best interest ng tao, yung kapakanan ng pamilya mo,” Gee mentioned.

GEE MAKES ALLEGATION OF INFIDELITY
Gee also disputed Archie’s portrayal of himself as a devoted husband.
Part of Archie's statement: "Ako, I believe na dakila akong asawa.
"Kasi noong nagpakasal ako, as in wala talaga. Walang kalokohan, siya lang talaga. Time and effort sa pamilya ko.
"Everything that I have is for them, and everything I do is for them.
"Kaya masasabi ko na, and I believe from the bottom of my heart that I am a good father and I'm a good husband."
During her interview with Ogie, Gee alleged that Archie had been unfaithful and claimed that she had evidence supporting her accusation.
“What if I tell you I have proof that you were sleeping with someone the time that we’re together?” Gee challenged her estranged husband.
Gee also discussed her decision to remain with Archie despite the acts of lasciviousness complaint filed against him by singer-actress Rita Daniela.
Rita filed a complaint against Archie over alleged inappropriate remarks and physical advances during a ride home.
In October 2025, the court ruled that Archie was guilty of the charge.
Gee said that, despite the legal controversy, she chose to remain in the marriage because she hoped her loyalty would help them work through their problems.
“I decided to stay with him, with the legal issues that he has, in hopes na makita niya yung loyalty and devotion ko sa kaniya. Ma-salvage pa yung marriage namin kahit papaano,” explained Gee.
Gee said she later confronted Archie about the alleged infidelity, but according to her, he denied it.
She also questioned why his previous interview emphasized his characterization as a devoted husband.
“Doon sa interview niyo, important bang sabihin na naging babaero ka for people to believe na hindi ka nangmamanyak?
"I’ll never know what happened in that car, silang dalawa lang nakakaalam non."

GEE CANLAS ON GIVING UP ON THE MARRIAGE
Gee said she made efforts to keep their marriage together despite the legal and financial difficulties they were facing.
She recalled even selling her wedding and engagement rings to help support their family while Archie was dealing with financial difficulties related to his legal case.
The couple was also undergoing marriage counseling before Gee learned about Rita’s complaint against Archie.
According to Gee, Archie did not tell her about the accusation himself.
She said that when she eventually learned about it, he asked her to remain strong instead of apologizing.
“So when we were working on our marriage, he was trying to cover up a lie at the same time,” she recalled.
Gee said Archie then cupped her face and told her: “I need you to be strong. I need you to be brave.”
For Gee, however, what she wanted to hear was an apology.
“Bakit hindi sorry? Instead of apologizing, inutusan pa ako maging strong,” Gee said.
“He never said sorry for what happened. He never said sorry to my parents. Both of my parents are pastors,” she added.
Gee said the final turning point came after she surprised Archie on his birthday, only for the celebration to end in another argument.
That experience, she said, made her realize that she could no longer continue trying to save the marriage.
“I remember in my head. So be it. I’m done. I felt like I could no longer do anything to make him happy."
When asked whether she still loves her former husband, Gee replied: “No. I think I love myself now.”
