Something Golden is making a comeback!
Nagbabalik ang Golden Screen Awards (GSA) ng Multi-Media Press Society of the Philippines (MMPRESS) with a special edition: Dekada Awards 2026.
After a decade-long hiatus from 2014 to 2024, muling mamamahagi ng taunang parangal ang grupo by giving honors to actors, directors and producers who gained the most acclaim and achieved recognition both here and abroad, in the past 10 years.
The 2026 Dekada Awardees were chosen by MMPRESS under this criteria:
For the actors, dapat ay nanalo ng two or more acting awards from any of the five most established and industry-recognized award-giving bodies in showbiz namely: Gawad Urian (by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino), FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) Awards, FAP or Luna Awards (by the Film Academy of the Philippines), Star Awards (by the Philippine Movie Press Club or PMPC), and The Eddys (by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors or SPEEd).
Kinonsidera rin ang mga nagwagi ng parangal mula sa mga kilala at lehitimong award-giving bodies and international film festivals especially, but not limited to, the so-called "A-list" filmfests.
For the directors kung saan mas mabigat ang labanan, ang pumasok sa listahan ay yung mga nagkamit ng parangal o may pelikulang nag-compete o naging official selection sa tinatawag na "Big Three" film festivals in the world na: Cannes (Festival de Cannes) in France, Venice (La Biennale di Venezia) in Italy and Berlin (Berlinale) in Germany.
The producers chosen ay yung pinakamatatag, the most enduring and also the most prolific film productions in the country even up to now, na ang laki na ng ipinagbago ng landscape ng entertainment industry.

REBRANDING
Formed by a group of entertainment writers and columnists back in 2004, ENPRESS (Entertainment Press Society, the club’s original name) also established the Golden Screen Awards for movies on the same year.
The GSA honored cinematic achievements in both mainstream and independent films, from various categories including drama, musical, or comedy. It celebrated notable local actors, directors, and producers before becoming inactive after its later editions in the 2010s.
Ang 11th Golden Screen Awards nung 2014 ang last regular edition of the GSA before it stopped giving out annual awards. It was held at the Teatrino in Greenhills.
The 12th Golden Screen Awards, the regular edition honoring the films shown in 2025, will be held before the year ends.
Renamed and rebranded in 2019 to reflect the fast-changing media landscape, MMPRESS is a non-profit organization composed of veteran and contemporary entertainment writers and columnists from print, online, and other forms of digital media.
Now under a new and vibrant leadership, the set of MMPRESS officers elected earlier this year are as follows: Rose Garcia (President), Allan Diones (Vice President), Joseph Gonzales (Secretary), Jimpy Anarcon (Multi-Media Officer), Lito Mañago (Treasurer), Lendl Fabella (Assistant Treasurer), Glenn Regondola (Auditor), and Arniel Serato (Press Relations Strategist).
Nora Calderon, Nitz Miralles, Fu Espiritu, and Anna Cerezo are regular members; Jun Nardo is honorary chairman; and Mr. Noel Ferrer serves as the group's official adviser.
SUSTAINABLE TROPHY
Zero waste ang sinisikap ipatupad ngayon in most movie productions to combat pollution. MMPRESS is doing its share by coming up with a totally eco-friendly idea.
The Dekada Awards 2026 trophies that will be given to twenty deserving honorees are all made from upcycled, reused and repurposed materials.
Created by a talented Ivatan artist, he constructed a sustainable piece of art from scrap metal, used wires, screws, GI sheet, GI pipe, driftwood and other discarded materials.
The new and improved GSA trophies are proudly sculptural and custom-made, untouched by machines and crafted entirely by human hands.
Talk about turning trash into art, junk to masterpiece and garbage to gem, while at the same time supporting local artists and taking practical steps towards climate action.
CONGRESSMAN JAVI BENITEZ
The GSA Dekada Awards 2026 will be co-presented by the office of Hon. Javier Miguel "Javi" Lopez Benitez.
Ang 31-year-old Representative of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental ang Chairman of the House Special Committee on Creative Industries.
Known to most showbiz fans as the hunky ex-boyfriend of actress Sue Ramirez, Cong. Javi is a strong supporter and genuine ally of the entertainment industry.
He was once a Star Magic artist who appeared in some movies and teleseryes, kaya ganun na lang yung concern niya sa industriya.
He officially joined politics in 2022 when he was elected Mayor of the City of Victorias in the province of Negros Occidental. The young lawmaker is now an Assistant Majority Leader in the 20th Congress.
The Golden Screen Awards’ Dekada Awards 2026 will be held on October 4, Sunday, 6:00 PM.
