Halos 200 ang bilang ng mga empleyado ng ABS-CBN ang mawawalan ng trabaho
Ito ang malungkot na balitang inanunsiyo ni ABS-CBN President at CEO Carlo Katigbak sa town hall meeting na ginanap sa Kapamilya Network compound sa Quezon City, nitong Martes ng umaga, Setyembre 15, 2026.
Ayon sa opisyal na pahayag ng ABS-CBN, na inilabas ilang oras matapos ang town hall meeting, katumbas ng humigit-kumulang pitong porsiyento ng workforce ng kumpanya ang maaapektuhan ng pagbabawas ng mga empleyado.
Ipinaliwanag ng pamunuan na bahagi ito ng mga hakbang upang mapanatili ang financial stability ng kumpanya sa gitna ng mga hamong kinakaharap ng content industry.
Pahayag ng ABS-CBN: “ABS-CBN continues to grow its content business, with its shows, films, music, and events reaching more people across platforms in the Philippines and around the world.
"We are in the process of re-building and re-creating ABS-CBN towards a new future as a global storytelling company.
“The new investments are a vote of confidence in the future of the company and will help ABS in our journey towards recovery and new successes.
“However, it has been a difficult year for the content industry. The Middle East conflict, high inflation, and low economic growth have led to weaker advertising and consumer spending.
"These events have affected our recovery efforts and we expect these challenges to continue.
“After careful review, we have made the difficult decision to implement a retrenchment program to keep ABS-CBN on strong financial footing.
"The program will cover around 200 people or 7% of the company's workforce.
"We know this will deeply affect our employees and their families, and we intend to manage this the way we have always done-with compassion for our Kapamilya.
“We are truly grateful to all our Kapamilyas for their dedication, passion, and service to the company and the Filipino people.”

LOPEZ FAMILY TO RETAIN CONTROL
Sa naturang town hall meeting, sinabi rin ni Katigbak na mananatili sa pamilya Lopez ang kontrol sa ABS-CBN sa kabila ng pagpasok ng mga bagong investor.
Ang bagong investments, ayon sa kumpanya, ay nakikitang boto ng kumpiyansa sa kinabukasan ng ABS-CBN at makatutulong sa patuloy nitong recovery.
Naitanong din kay Katigbak ang tungkol sa ratings ng action-drama series na Sigabo, na pinangungunahan ni Coco Martin.
“Improving,” sagot ni Katigbak nang tanungin kung bumubuti ang performance ng programa.
Patuloy na nakatutok ang ABS-CBN sa content business nito, kabilang ang mga palabas, pelikula, musika, at events na ipinamamahagi sa iba't ibang platforms sa Pilipinas at iba pang bahagi ng mundo.
Gayunman, inamin ng kumpanya na nananatiling mahirap ang kasalukuyang kondisyon ng content industry dahil sa mga hamon sa advertising at consumer spending.
Sa kabila ng retrenchment, sinabi ng ABS-CBN na layunin nitong muling buuin ang kumpanya bilang isang global storytelling company at manatiling matatag sa gitna ng patuloy na pagbabago sa industriya.
