Star Cinema begins 2007 with the release of Vhong Navarro's hilarious spoof, Agent X44. Starting January 17, moviegoers will be able to watch the dancer-turned-comedian dressed in an all-white ensemble while battling with the evil elements of the society.
This action-packed movie also boasts of a star-studded cast including Mariel Rodriguez, Juliana Palermo, Pokwang, John Lapus, Epi Quizon, Cass Ponti, Uma Khouny, Mura, and Mr. Tony Ferrer, the original Agent X44 himself. Not to be missed are the fabulous costumes and dazzling special effects as well as the exciting action scenes.
Agent X44 was the counterpart of James Bond (Agent 007) in Philippine cinema during the swinging '60s. Back when the James Bond craze had the world at its fingertips, a breed of local "secret agents" gave a new thrill and excitement to the big screen. And that era's most popular secret agent was Tony Ferrer—who now reprises his role as Tony Falcon in Star Cinema's Agent X44.
In the movie, Agent X44 is tasked to search for the stolen dagger of Lapu-Lapu that was used to kill Magellan. He then faces numerous obstacles that challenge his skills as Agent X44. This remake based on the former spy movies of Tony Ferrer is directed by Joyce Bernal, who helmed the blockbuster comedy D'Anothers also starring Vhong.
In this opening salvo of the film arm of ABS-CBN, Vhong gets the rare distinction of testing the waters after the Metro Manila Film Fest via this action-comedy movie.
Agent X44 is Vhong's third solo starrer after Gagamboy and Mr. Suave.
