Former professional basketball player Doug Kramer urges the public to show compassion, reminding everyone that no one is perfect.

“Fight hate with love, resentment with light. Cruelty is an echo of unrest within, yet not every stone thrown is purely blind,” says Doug in his social media post on Friday, October 2, 2026.

While Doug did not directly state the reason for his post, it appears to respond to the recent controversy involving his brother-in-law, Patrick Garcia.

Patrick, the brother of Doug’s wife, Cheska, came under scrutiny after speaking publicly about his past relationship with actress-singer Jennylyn Mercado and their son, Alex Jazz.

In an interview with veteran showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, Patrick stresses that he did not abandon Jennylyn while she was pregnant with their son, who was born in 2008.

Patrick said his absence was not by personal choice, but because Jennylyn did not want him by her side.

DOUG KRAMER: "WE ALL HURT OTHERS."

In his post, Doug points out that everyone makes mistakes, whether in the past or the present.

He writes, "Perfection isn't human; we all stumble along the way."

He emphasizes that being considerate of others and refraining from passing judgment are essential to avoid causing further hurt.

“Grace is needed both ways—we all hurt others, and we also feel pain. So extend forgiveness generously; none of us walk with clean hands,” added Doug.

“Hold fast to your warmth and keep moving forward. Refuse to return the sting. And let compassion break the heavy chain."

Meanwhile, Nikka Garcia, Patrick’s wife, issued a statement defending her husband’s character, describing him as hardworking and gentle, and as “a man who takes care of me in all the ways that matter.”

Throughout the controversy, Jennylyn has opted to remain silent. Her management team, Aguila Entertainment, said that the actress “will not comment or grant any interviews.”
