The hardcourt heartthrob beats the loverboy in GMA-7's Survivor Philippines.
JC Tiuseco outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted Rob Sy in the reality show shot for 39 days in Koh Tarutao (Devil's Island) in Thailand.
Since airing its pilot episode on the Kapuso Network last September 15, Survivor Philippines has been doing well in the ratings game even though it is at the tailend of GMA-7's Telebabad block.
During the finale of SP last Friday, December 12, the final episode held at Studio 7 of GMA Network showed how JC received five votes from the jury composed of ousted castaways. One of the votes cast came from viewers who cast their votes through SMS (dubbed as the Boto ng Bayan). On the other hand, Rob Sy received two votes.
Out of the 18 castaways who joined Survivor Philippines, eight of them were lucky enough to be part of the jury, the group that chose the first Pinoy Sole Survivor. JC is guaranteed a P3 million cash prize (tax-free) and he ws given a huge pearl signifying that he is the first Pinoy Sole Survivor.
The 23-year old basketball player of San Sebastian College says that he will use the money to help his parent's business since he still needs time to finish his studies. "Gusto kong mag give back sa kanila," said the hardcourt heartthrob to host Paolo Bediones during the finale.
Since he was one of the youngest players, he initially seemed quite naive regarding the dynamics of the game. However, as time went by, he became more aware of his actions and he learned to strategize. The schoolboy is now a graduate.
