One of the country's most popular love teams during the
‘90s, Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, reunites as screen partners in Dear
Friend. This is GMA-7's newest afternoon show beginning July 20 right after
Pinoy Idol Extra.
Marvin and Jolina reunite on screen for this drama anthology show featuring true and personal stories from letters sent by televiewers. Each letter will reveal real life adversities and trials confronting today's youth.
Dear Friend aims to inspire, motivate, and stir the youth's consciousness on issues involving their lives. As hosts of this show, Marvin and Jolina will share their personal experiences to letter senders as well as the televiewers. Both have evidently surpassed various obstacles and difficulties that added maturity to their personal lives. Their partnership is tried and tested, both in television and films.
How did Jolina and Marvin prepare for this drama anthology show?
"Maganda po kasi yung first two episodes po namin about teen pregnancy and sexuality," reveals Marvin during the press conference of Dear Friend held last night at the Mandarin Oriental Suites in Cubao, Quezon City. "Yung pagbabasa po ng libro...I've read many books na rin and hindi namin kino-consider ang mga sarili namin na genius. Ang mga usual na katanungan sa amin, tungkol sa values at based sa mga experiences sa buhay. Hindi naman namin sinasabi na authority kami but we will talk based on what we experienced in life. Hindi naman napariwara ang buhay namin kaya makinig sila sa amin."
Jolina explains how they plan to tackle the problems of viewers. "Mas maganda kung iba-base sa mga kaalaman namin pero tama rin pong i-consider namin ang pagbabasa ng mga books para mas malawak yung kaalaman namin."
Issues concerning the youth like teen marriage, date rape, sibling rivalry, addictions, and broken families are likely to be featured in Dear Friend. Also, every episode will feature one chosen song and a corresponding music video.
Dear Friend is the youth's venue to experience the feeling of belonging and inspiration in their struggles and triumphs. The show will encourage televiewers to share their life stories and send a positive message of hope and realization for their own growth and well-being.
