There is a very good reason why John "Sweet" Lapus is in cloud nine nowadays. The comedian-TV host had a blast when he celebrated his 35th birthday with a party filled with all kinds of luscious desserts. Last July 7, Sweet partied all night with his close showbiz friends at the Subarus restaurant-bar in Quezon City.
"This year is definitely one of my best birthdays. I feel so special sa lahat ng mga surprise birthday treats na natanggap ko and syempre all the projects that I've been getting," said John Lapus.
Sweet is overwhelmed with the blessings he has been getting and he would definitely be giving his best in every project given to him by his current home studio, GMA Network. Aside from being a guest in various GMA-7 shows, he can be seen regularly in the primetime show Ako si Kim Samsoon and as one of the hosts of the Sunday talk show Showbiz Central. He also appeared in the digital film 100, which won five awards in Cinemalaya 2008.
Sweet is proud of his humble beginnings as segment producer and creative consultant before he became one of the most loved comedians on TV and the big screen. The pivotal role that started it all was his remarkable performance in the movie Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, paving the way for a successful showbiz career that now spans fifteen years. According to Sweet, he owes everything to the people who have been very supportive of him since day one.
After holding Sweetilicious: The Universal Sweet Anniversary Show last May, Sweet is set to do his annual birthday show treat for the fans. His post-birthday celebration titled The Universal Sweet John Lapus: Happy Birthday To Me! takes place on July 26 (Saturday), 9 pm at Zirkoh Timog. This show would definitely be another red-letter day for Sweet as his fellow Star Magic family will be joining him on this rare event.
