John Arcilla nominated in 10th Asian Film Awards for Heneral Luna

Heneral Luna star John Arcilla is the lone Filipino nominated in the 10th edition of the Asian Film Awards.

The Pinoy actor is cited for his portrayal of General Antonio Luna in the historical biopic directed by Jerrold Tarog.

The historical epic was also nominated for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

Heneral Luna is the only Filipino film in contention for any category in this year’s AFA. The nominations were announced during the AFA press conference held in Hong Kong on February 3.

The awarding ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 17 at the Venetian Theater in Macau.

John is competing against Hong Kong's Donnie Yen of Ip Man 3, Japan's Nagase Masatoshi of An, China's Feng Xiaogang of Mr. Six, and South Korea's Lee Byung-Hun of Inside Men.

During its record-breaking nine-week theatrical run of Heneral Luna, the movie earned P257 million in the box office.

It was also chosen as the Philippines' official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
 
According to the producers, the Heneral Luna DVD is currently selling more than 7,000 copies in less than a month since its release.
