The first shooting day of OMG (Oh My Girl!) last March 25 marks the dream partnership of friends Judy Ann Santos and Ogie Alcasid on the big screen.
Ogie is known for his funny portrayal of female characters on TV (which everyone fondly imitates) while Juday is has proven her bankability not just in drama but in light comedy roles as well.
Megged by Ploning's acclaimed director Dante Nico "Ga" Garcia, OMG is expected to pave the way for a good year of the Ox for Regal's first quarter offer.
During the first press conference organized by Regal Entertainment, Katski Flores, one of the writers of the screenplay of OMG (Oh My Girl), explained the plot of the movie. "This is basically a story of two kids who formed a friendship kaya lang nagkahiwalay sila at nag-reunite sila. Pero they're now worlds apart. The main character is Judy Ann, who plays Darling and she is now a superstar.
"Biboy (Ogie) is a cellphone repairman. How will they get together and how will they overcome the obstacles in their way? It's a crazy story and an outrageous comedy. Babaliin namin ang brand of comedy...hindi n'yo pa ito nakikitang ginawa at hindi pa namin ito ginagawa. It's a story about friendship, about love and the crazy things that people do para makuha natin ang pag-ibig at pagkakaibigan na ito."
During the first taping day of OMG, singer-comedian Ogie brought to life another female character that will make a mark on the public.
His character Biboy wants to become close to his childhood friend Darling, so he dresses up as woman named Frida.
The singer-actor proved to be so effective that after a few hours of preparation, even Mother Lily Monteverde was not able to recognize Ogie at all. While observing the actors through the director's monitor, the Regal matriarch asked for the identity of the old lady present with Juday that day, completely oblivious to the fact that it was in fact Ogie behind the makeup and the dress.
From Eugene Domingo's bear brand look-a-like to Sylvia de la Torre's "Sa Kabukiran," Frida rendition, it was the perfect example of a natural comic relief one can only see from this guy.
Direk Dante explains the directing style that he will use in OMG. "I'm here to direct. Sobrang happy ako dahil kaibigan ko silang dalawa at nakikita ko naman na marami silang unguarded moments. Yun yung ika-capture namin sa film. Yung mga kulitan na yan i-incorporate ko sa film."
He also revealed that he plans to revive the tradition of having the stars of the film participate in a dance number towards the end of the film—a tradition that became popular during the '80s.
In fact, during the March 25 taping day, Juday gamely danced to the beat of Maricel Soriano's signature "shake body body dancer" for a scene, earning laughs from the production staff present on the set.
Moviegoers can look forward to seeing the first big screen team up of Judy Ann and Ogie through the Regal Entertainment movie OMG (Oh My Girl!), which will open soon in cinemas nationwide.
