On May 14 and 16, Jennylyn Mercado will celebrate her birthday with a two-night show at the Music Museum. This will also mark her return to the concert scene through the event dubbed as I Am Woman.
I Am Woman will be Jennylyn's "time to shine" as a
singer and performer. She will sing and dance onstage, in a repertoire that
unleashes her deepest feelings about life, love and being a woman, from
standards to pop, dance and OPM hits.
This will actually be Jennylyn's
second time to do a concert at the Music Museum. Her first was reportedly a
sold-out affair. Also joining her in I Am Woman are special guests Ogie
Alcasid and Janno Gibbs, dashing balladeers Christian Bautista and Richard Poon
as well as Gemma and Jasmine Fitzgerald. Upcoming singer Nico Antonio will be
the front act.
However, it is the presence of
Mark Herras that has audiences most intrigued. The two were reunited this year
in the soap opera Paano Ba Ang Mangarap, which presented a more mature
screen persona for both of them. The soap is rating well, and proves that
Jennylyn still has solid support coming from her fans and the fans of her
teamup with Mark.
But the people behind the show
don't want to spill any other beans or spoil the surprise. The people behind
the show say that I Am Woman will be a unique concert experience. "This
is going to be interesting, exciting and memorable," adds director Calvin
Neria.
On a personal note, the concert
will signal Jennylyn's reinvention and moving on. She's been through a lot since
her pregnancy and the birth of her son Alex Jazz, and I Am Woman is a
musical declaration of her independence as well as her eagerness to embrace the
future and all it holds for her and her son.
"That's why I'm really excited to do this show. Matagal-tagal na din akong
hindi nakaka-kanta at nakakapag-perform onstage, so in a way it's also a
challenge for me," says Jen.
I Am Woman comes on the heels of the launching of
Jennylyn's coffee-table book featuring never-before-published photos of her and
Alex Jazz, and stories about them from the time of her pregnancy all the way to
the baby's birth. It is a must-have item for all of Jennylyn's fans, and single
moms who can identify and draw inspiration from what she's been through.
This two-night concert is a
production of Eagle Eye Entertainment Production Inc. and JLC Entertainment.
Tickets are available at Music Museum and Ticketworld outlets (Tel. No. 891-9999).
