Last year, Tessa Prieto-Valdes bested Dr. Hayden Kho Jr. and
Jessica Bunevacz in the first season of Celebrity Duets. For garnering
the most number of text votes from the voting public, Tessa received P1
million, all of which was donated to her favorite charities.
This year, GMA-7 brings back the fun-filled musical show in replacement of the time slot vacated by Pinoy Idol. Every Saturday, viewers will get to see personalities from diverse fields trying their hand at singing along with the singer of their choice.
This weekly show will follow the eventful lives of the
celebrity contestants as they are trained and transformed into being the next
musical sensations. Each week, a celebrity will be paired with an established
singer to train and to guide them from their choice of song to their actual
duet in front of a panel of judges and a live studio audience.
Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando, fashion designer
JC Buendia, actor-politician Joey Marquez, model-turned-actress Melanie
Marquez, chef JL Cang, professional soccer player Phil Younghusband, beauty
queen Carlene Aguilar, and lifestyle guru Cory Quirino make up the eight
non-singing celebrity contestants who will compete in the second season of Celebrity
Duets.
This season's panel of judges is composed of playwright-director Floy Quintos, composer-arranger Danny Tan, and all around social butterfly and Celebrity Duets' first grand winner, Tessa Prieto-Valdes. All three are equally responsible in assisting and influencing the viewing public as to who deserves their text votes.
The winner will get to choose a charity of his or her choice to which he or she will donate in whole or in part the one million peso grand prize.
Hosted by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, Celebrity Duets Season 2 airs its pilot episode this Saturday, August 23, after Pinoy Records on GMA-7.
