Descendants of the Sun was able to win three trophies at the 2016 Seoul International Drama Awards.
The 11th edition of SDA was held on September 8 at the KBS Hall, Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea.
The Excellent Korean Drama award was given to Descendants of the Sun, which also earned trophies for Outstanding Korean Drama OST and Outstanding Korean Actor. 
During an intermission number, Kim Hyung-Soo (more popularly known as K. Will) put Descendants of the Sun lead actor Song Joong Ki on the spot.
K. Will incorporated Saranghae (Korean for "I love you") while singing the Descendants of the Sun's OST "Talk Love."
During his intermission number, K. Will actually sang "Saranghae Song Joong Ki [I love you, Song Joong Ki]," which is why the Korean actor covered his face with his hands.

Another highlight of the evening was when Dennis Trillo became the first Filipino actor to win the Asian Male Star Prize at the Seoul Drama Awards.

Aside from Dennis, Anthony Wong of Hong Kong and Jasper Liu (Liu Yi Hao) of Taiwan were also named as recipients of the Asian Male Star Prize.
This event allowed Dennis to have a photo taken with Song Joong Ki who won the award for Outstanding Korean Actor at the SDA.
