Kantar Media Ratings (Sept 1-7, 2016): Kalyeserye finale on Eat Bulaga gets lower rating than It's Showtime

Here are the highlights of the comparative ratings of GMA-7, ABS-CBN and TV5 programs from September 1-7, 2016, according to Kantar Media/TNS survey among nationwide households.

There were several finales and premieres that were aired during this given period.

GMA-7 had two finales. The first was Juan Happy Love Story, its primetime series that ended on September 2. The finale episode rated 13.6%, losing to Born for You's 16.8%.

Juan Happy Love Story was a sexy comedy that starred Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo and Kim Rodriguez. It first aired on May 16.

The second finale was the last Kalyeserye segment, which aired on September 3. On Day 346, it was announced that Kalyeserye ended a chapter but it promised to return. This particular episode of Eat Bulaga! got a national TV rating of 13.7% against It's Showtime's 19.3%.

Kalyeserye launched the fame of the popular love team AlDub, or Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza. It started airing more than a year ago on July 16, 2015, and every Eat Bulaga! episode that featured it used to have the highest rating on daytime, according to Kantar Media/TNS.

On September 3, Eat Bulaga landed on the No. 10 slot among most-watched daytime programs nationwide.

ABS-CBN also had a finale. Its afternoon soap opera Tubig at Langis ended on September 2, getting a 21.6% rating against Sa Piling ni Nanay's 12.3%.

Tubig at Langis was a heavy drama about infidelity, and it starred Cristine Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo and Isabelle Daza. It aired its pilot episode on February 1.

There were also several premieres in this given period. Two were on September 3, Saturday.

The first one was #Like, a talent competition that features acts that have gone viral on the internet. Tom Rodriguez hosts this new Kapuso show with online sensation Balang. This show airs after Eat Bulaga, which is why it overlaps with Showtime and Ipaglaban Mo.

#Like's pilot episode got a 11.3% rating, while It's Showtime got 19.3% and Ipaglaban Mo registered 20.2%.

The second was Superstar Duets, a talent show on primetime that has a comedic twist. Jennylyn Mercado is its host.

The pilot episode of Superstar Duets garnered a 13.2% rating, losing to the 16.4% taken by Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7.

There were also two premieres on September 5, Monday, one for ABS-CBN and one for GMA-7.

The first was The Greatest Love, a family drama about a mother's with Alzheimer's. It stars Sylvia Sanchez, Andi Eigenmann, Dimples Romana, Arron Villaflor and Matt Evans.

The Greatest Love's pilot episode registered a 15.7% rating, defeating Sa Piling ni Nanay's 12.3%.

The second was Someone to Watch Over Me, a tragic romantic series on primetime that stars Tom Rodriguez, Lovi Poe and Max Collins. The Kapuso drama's pilot episode got a 12% rating, losing to Born for You's 14.5%.
