The three main stars of Oh, My Mama, GMA-7's new afternoon teleserye, are determined to prove themselves in this TV adaptation of the '80s movie that starred Maricel Soriano.
Inah de Belen, Jeric Gonzales, and Jake Vargas said at the press conference of their Kapuso show that they will give their best in their performances.
Inah de Belen is cast as the lead character named Maricel Reyes. The daughter of Janice de Belen and John Estrada admits that she feels pressured about being the lead of Oh, My Mama.
"Pero yung pressure ginagawa kong motivation para gawin yung best ko," said Inah.
Jake Vargas is Inah's leading man in the teleserye. Jake portrays Julio Sta. Ana, a "maangas na mayabang" character, which is his opposite in real life.
He said that he gets inspiration by observing "kanto boys" and copying their behaviour.
Jeric Gonzales portrays the rich playboy Zach Ynares, which he also says is his entire opposite in real life.
"Kailangan ko talagang mag-effort sa role na to I think nagawa ko naman," he said.
Inah could not hold back her tears when she watched a video message from mom Janice.
"Yung video na 'yan sobrang special siya sa akin kasi first time na sinabi niya talaga sa 'kin na sobrang saya niya [for me]."
The three main stars of Oh, My Mama--Jeric, Inah, and Jake--all agree that they have built good rapport with each other.
Gladys Reyes (Inday Bartolome) sees potential in Inah as an actress.
"Para sa first project niya, unang sabak, drama agad. May pinaghuhugtan. Hindi siya mahirap humugot ng emosyon," she says of Inah.
Epy Quizon (Gordon Reyes) echoes Gladys' observation of Inah. "Gusto ko sa kanya ang ganda niyang umiyak. Alam mo talagang kadugo niya ang nanay niya. This project will hone her craft, will hone her skill."
Arthur Solinap (Rick Rosales) relates that he is now doing two things that he never thought of doing: comedy (Pepito Manaloto) and drama via this new teleserye.
Eunice Lagusad (Sara Bartolome) plays the best friend of Inah's role. Incidentally, Eunice usually portrays the "best friend" roles in teleseryes.
"Wala naman pong problema po sa akin ang pagiging pambansang best friend sa mga nagiging show. As long as meron akong trabaho, yun lang naman ang importante."
Therese "Teri" Malvar (Peewee) is an internationally-awarded Filipina actress at a young age because of her performance in the indie movie, Hamog. She is thankful that director Neal del Rosario and the acting coaches help them deliver with the dramatic scenes.
Ash Ortega (Ariana Gutierrez) plays the kontrabida in the series, which she enjoys a lot.
"Pag kontrabida, pwede mo siyang paglaruan. Mas ima-mature ko yung role ko dito," she said.
Phytos Ramirez (Justin) is just happy that he is included in this show. "Hindi po ako nagmamadali [sa career ko] po. Every role na binibigay sa akin, basta ginagawa ko lang yung best ko."
Bryce Eusebio (Bimbo) says they get some help when it comes to heavy scenes. "Di naman po ako nahirapan dahil tinulungan din naman po niya kami at binigyan din po niya kami ng hugot," referring to their director.
Sofia Pablo (Nicole) agrees with Bryce. "Hindi naman po kami pinahirapan ni Direk kasi po binigyan naman po kami ng time na mag-prepare at maghugot."
Child actor Jhiz Deocareza (who is cast as Bayani) admits, "Di naman po ako nahirapan. Okay lang naman po masaya po ako."
Also part of the cast is David Remo as Tito (leftmost), who says that they have a happy set. During break time, David says he gets to play with his fellow co-stars.
