Murder suspect Jason Ivler was transferred to Quezon City Jail today, April 6, after spending more than two months in the hospital.
Ivler, nephew of folk singer Freddie Aguilar, is facing murder charges for allegedly killing the son of a Palace official in a road-rage incident November last year. He was detained in the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) after being injured by operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a gunfight leading to his arrest last January.
QC Regional Trial Court Judge Alexander Balut ordered Ivler's transfer after taking into account the medical bulletin issued by Dr. Romeo Abary, the suspect's physician, released last week. The bulletin said Ivler is "capable" of being discharged from the hospital. Abary said Ivler's wounds from the colostomy operation are "healing well" and are already at "skin level."
After receiving a copy of the court order, NBI operatives fetched Ivler from QMMC this afternoon, and brought him to the detention facility.
Ivler was detained in the QC Jail's International Cell facility, along with other "foreign" inmates. His inmate number is 2779.
Jail Superintendent Nestor Velasquez said the International Cell has its own restroom and electric fans. He added that Ivler's rights and privileges will be the same as other inmates.
Velasquez also said Ivler's medical needs will be closely monitored by the jail's medical personnel.
INMATE FANS? Marlene Aguilar, Ivler's mother, said in her son's Facebook fan page that the masses showed how they idolized her son while he was being transferred to the jail.
"I never knew how much the masses adored Jsin until I saw people cheering him today outside of city jail. When he was brought in prisoners cheered yelling IDOL! IDOL! CLAPPING THEIR HANDS!" she said.
Aguilar said she also witnessed Ivler's "favorable" condition in jail. "While inside his cell, hundreds of inmates waited patiently outside. Then I asked a man why they were all standing there. He said, '...We want to get a glimpse of Ivler, Ma'am.' So I asked an inmate to help Jason up so they could see him. I heard, prisoners were in line asking for autographs when we left him."
She added, "Jsin is in good hands surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of fans who adore him! Unfortunately, he still needs his surgery."
The next hearing for Ivler's murder charges is set on April 13.
